Why didn't they just try to sign Willian in the first place instead of splashing out 17m or whatever on a back-up and then paying a huge sum for another winger when we still need to fix other areas of the squad?!And don't even start this "Schürrle can be a striker" BS. If you seriously think a guy who was one of the worst players at converting chances in Europe last season (if not the worst, don't remember the exact numbers) can be a decent striker you probably should have a look at Schürrle's past year at Leverkusen. Schurrle gets into those positions, but he needs to work on his finishing. What we have now is depth and options in one of the most important positions for us on the pitch. Was it in 2010 when he scored 34 goals or what is two years later when he scored 34 goals? There's a lot of bullshit spoken about Rooney when the sensible thing is perhaps to hold your hands up and say you simply don't know what you're talking about.
