Milan 17,956
Legendary manager, he will never be forgotten. Even though he is 71, I could never imagine him quitting. Now imagine the pressure the new United manager will be under.
The only place to be 11,313
Whatever happens, whoever we get in and whoever they get in this has to increase our chances of winning the title next year. We've been talking about a transition, but this is something else. The fact he's leaving when there are five teams pushing for the top four and even Liverpool are rebuilding means whoever comes in needs to hit the ground running. Ankit 3,176
Ben Smith says English Football might just implode, given who he's told the replacement is. But then, he says a lot of things.

Leif 6,006
I actually didn't have a big problem with him like so many seem to have I thought it was cute watching old Red Nose get wound up so easily and enjoying his chewing gum!!! That said, I've always wanted to see United without him. No doubt they'll still be incredibly strong - but just not as strong.. which is great for us.I can't see Mourinho joining them. Although later on I'll think the opposite. Then the opposite again.
Jase 43,479
Said it several times before, when he's not bickering and talking nonsense about referees and other teams, he's a great person to listen to. One of the best, if not the best ever manager and have total respect for what he has achieved at United.
Kezza 1,965
Cunt, but legend to the game.So many acheivements. Finally we can stop hear him wanking on about like the old git that he isWhat does this mean for Utd? Are they going to implode? I mean, not become a mid table team, but will they still be the force they have been over the many many years? Ankit 3,176
Whilst Ferguson is/was undoubtedly one of the finest football managers ever and I have nothing but admiration for him in that regard, it’s a shame he’s never seemed to possess any grace as a human being, at least publicaly (I suspect his external persona is not a fair reflection of him away from the cameras). I don’t imagine that’s ever bothered the Manchester United fans (why should it) but it’s the main reason why I don’t feel any sadness that he’s retiring – I have respect for him, I simply don’t like him. Special Juan 28,141
I won't change my stance on him, bloke is and will always be a hypocritical toss pot without doubt.I'm glad I don't read papers but I really could not stand the wank fest that will transpire over the coming weeks.F off....I won't miss you. Milan 17,956
So many clubs in the summer without a manager. Damn, there will be more manager changes than players transfers!
Leif 6,006
Rejoice the fact that our opponents just got weaker. Even if Jose joined them they'd be weaker IMO. No disrespect to Mourinho, but his current mindset would fuck United's strict, disciplined look at everything. Rio, Scholes, Giggs etc. would probably have ruffled feathers too. CFC-Lloydy 38
I think Fergie has been up to his ole clever tricks again, just as everyone was thinking that Mourinho was pretty much on his way to Chelsea, Fergie retires, clever from the wily old Scot! Don't think Mourinho would work with Fergie being upstairs, only time will tell!

Are they going to implode? I mean, not become a mid table team, but will they still be the force they have been over the many many years?I'm actually wondering the same thing. Will they find a long-term manager right away or will they turn into something like us? Stability and fixed hierarchy in the club is what made them successful. No player, no matter how good, could off-set Ferguson's status.
Leif 6,006
Who in the world would think - "AWH YEAH!!! I'm gonna choose United over Chelsea/City because they have Moyes at the helm!!! " ?Manchester United have just lost a huge X factor when it comes to signing players. Even if the biggest die-hard Chelsea supporter or Liverpool supporter was approached by either CFC or LFC AND MUFC, almost every time the idea of working under Ferguson would simply be too hard to pass up.He is now history. Watch United take the AC Milan route.
