Demba Ba

IIRC he used to get 20K at Newcastle in the weeks where he does not play and 40K in the weeks that he does. It was said that we double this when he moved here.

BA to me at 80thou a week is overpaid. You could be right, who´s going to pay him so much ?

Perhaps, 2m for a loan might be more feasible to expect ?

He was so cheap and we was so desperate so we overpaid. Right now some Middle East club probably will but then again he is not a big name player so they aren't interested.

And Garry Cahill on 80K is not? We over-pay for everyone in terms of wages. Hell, even Yossi f***ing Benayoun was on 80K IIRC!

I know, most of these footballers are making huge money.

However, I would not compare Cahill to BA at 80thou a week. To me Cahill is much closer to it than BA ever will.

Maybe, but still way too much considering he was probably making less than half of that at Bolton.

Sure, but his Bolton contract was about to expire that year so being an England international regular he most certainly would have got a good contract elsewhere had he waited till the summer and moved on a free transfer.

Can't wrap my head on how Mata is on 50K/wk while Ba and Cahill are on 80.

Anyway, back to Ba.

Cahill is English... and Ba was a panic signing.

That explains a lot about what's been going on with Mata; they must be having some very serious money talks.

Hopefully he goes to Roma. Lazio are about to sign Yilmaz so buying Ba would somewhat even that potential mind-game out (which is obviously a huge part of their alleged interest in him.) I think he'd end up with around 20 goals this season in Italy. Don't see him recapturing form in the Premier League.

Sorry if I'm missing something but why is everyone hoping Ba will go and not the same with Torres? Ba, in half a season, accomplished far more than Torres has in his tenure here. He does also put in a lot of effort. He was offside numerous times against Villa last Wednesday but that's because the attacking midfielders didn't release the ball quick enough. He was pointing where he wanted the ball, they wouldn't play it and he'd be offside.

Some people seem to have given up on him after half a season. (He also missed several games last season with a broken nose diving for a ball Torres wouldn't have gone for in a million years) He scored some important goals up until April, most notably against the two Manchester clubs in the FA Cup. He has been pretty shit since the, not going to lie, but is it really fair to judge him over 5 months and decide he should be shipped out and back Torres for 2 or whatever years?

He's really not that bad. I'm not saying he should be starting every game but with good service, which he would be getting, he would provide 15+ goals a season (if he was a regular starter). Can't we get rid of Fernando Tosspot instead?

point is - teams actually do WANT BA. they can use him, on the other hand most who in their right mind would buy floppes?

That's debatable.

Ba is still with us because of his relative high wages, which is the same reason we cannot move Torres. It would be a lot fairer if Torres and Ba were earning the same amount. However, I agree that we could say Ba is a better deal for the buck right now, but if we cannot move him without having to pay part of his wages, then he'd be in the same boat as Torres: the unflushables...

I wonder if Torres had an "accident" would we make a profit on insurance???
