Fernando Torres

We were piss poor second half yesterday. But on the rare occasions it looked like we could pull something off Torres ruined it. Dont understand the mentality of "oh a new striker would only paper over the cracks" No getting rid of Torres will improve us a 100 fold. He isnt our only problem but he is a big big problem.

What cracks? crack that we doesn't have a Vidal as our other CDM? Or Courtois over Cech? Because the rest of the team as far as I can see are up there along with top 10 starting 11 in Europe. Or is the crack the manager? Who is one of the greatest in history(albeit with annoying traits somewhat and sometime irritating tactics)

To summarise it. Torres is crap but so is our build up play and attacking fluency/cohesion. A top striker will likely score more goals but will not necessarily solve the underlying issue. it's a tactical issue not an individual one. Although having the right quality/players does help to solve the issue.

And what others are trying to convey is that a competent striker completely changes the way teams play. EVERYONE on the pitch has more space, more time, more options when there is a legitimate threat up-top.

I'm not disagreeing with you.

The build up play is linked to the striker. How do you not understand this?

But even if we do have tactical issues we have the best man in the job to work on them, unless you want to start a Mourinho Out chant at the Bridge this weekend? Go on, money where your mouth is.

A great striker changes the system around them, he demands the ball and reliefs pressure from midfielders and defenders; he exerts confidence and boosts spirit.

Our issues within the squad are no way as bad as United's issues last year.

WHAT......

Fergie built the system so RVP could succeed.

Messi is perfect for the barcelona system.

Cristiano plays in a system where it utilizes his best attributes.

City built a system for the strikers...

Liverpool build a system for Suarez/Daniel to succceed.

Sorry guys, Drogba was the exception along with Cavani and Lewandowski. Most teams play for the striker to succeed.

Van persie papered over the midfield problems of Man Utd last season and we are in for a stack reality if you think a striker is the solution to our problems

That is very true. United didn't solve their underlying problems, whereas we actually seem to be identifying the issues and solving them at a pace that's dependent on when the players are available and when they fit into our budget.

Jose has only been here for 10 months. In Rodgers first season he finished 7th. In his second he could finish higher....why are Liverpool fans able to be patient when you're not?

Go ahead and give examples. if you are going to make outlandish claims then you must be able to back it up.

great strikers aren't magician or superheroes.

I raised that point not to critisize Mourinho rather some fans seem to think buying a Costa will solve all our problems. I know Torres is terrible but our midfield barely creates chances for our strikers. At least back in 2011 he was missing open goals and chances were aplenty, now we cant say the same. Even Etoo look at most of his goals they are self made. Although hazard has helped him too. Its not a coincedence that both Oscar and Willian have less assists than Hazard between t

Actually I kinda agree with him, it really is. Sturridge and Suarez are as good examples as you can see. Now they are soon to be highest scoring duo in BPL history apparently. That DEFINITELY had a massive say in their position now. Diego Costa clear example as day, Atletico would be going no where if they had Demba Ba leading the line now.

They aren't magician or superheroes but they can be very important, sometime even making a team from aiming to finish 4th to winning the league.
