Fernando Torres

... now they are signing Remy. a possible Torres replacement? only time will tell.

they probably just come to the realisation that they`ve got a really poor squad thanks to Rafa`s shambolic record in the transfer market and lack of talent coming through the youth ranks.

Remy is a decent young player but not an out and out 20 plus goals a season striker.

CHELSEA have made a club record £50million bid for Fernando Torres.

Liverpool turned down a £40m offer for the Spanish striker, 26, last week.

And the Anfield club made it clear they would not welcome any further approaches for their World Cup-winning star.

But that will not deter Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich from stepping up the pursuit of his top target this summer.

A top Stamford Bridge source said: "It's true Liverpool have knocked back the first bid of £40m but it's highly unlikely that will be the end to it.

"Let's see what happens when an offer of £50m lands on Christian Purslow's desk."

Red Rom is now on holiday after spending two weeks at the World Cup finals in South Africa but will test Liverpool's resolve by upping his offer.

He is hoping a significantly improved offer will concentrate minds at a club that has failed to qualify for the Champions League.

They are also £350m in debt and made a £55m loss in the last financial year.

Torres, who joined Liverpool for £21.5m from Atletico Madrid three years ago, met with new Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson and managing director Purslow this week in Spain.

But that did little to stifle speculation surrounding his future.

And if the Kop favourite comes out publicly and demands to leave Merseyside, then Liverpool may reluctantly consider doing a deal.

But sources close to the hitman, who will be out for three weeks after tearing an abductor muscle in the World Cup final, say he is in no rush to commit himself either way yet.

A Liverpool insider said: "The club were quick to reject Chelsea's £40m bid and tell them Torres is not for sale.

"But the worry is it still won't be the end of it and that Chelsea will be back.

"Fernando could kill the deal stone dead by coming right out and committing himself to the club. Hopefully he'll do that sooner rather than later."

The Reds are closing in on a £12.5m move for Nice striker Loic Remy, who is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in France.

Remy, 23, said: "Liverpool are a legendary club. I'm very excited about the thought of playing there."

Rangers

Portsmouth

Blackburn rovers

west ham

football conferance

You could also make a team with that money

:o i guess i took your use of the word "decent" too literally.

all due respect to those clubs ..but if Roman bought any of those teams i would expect all of the players to be loaned out with a view to selling them a.s.a.p.

I think that the club has spread the rumours about Torres only to fool Man City, so they will be also in Torres but then we actually sign Aguero. It is only my view on the situation, and I also think Aguero would be better signing, he is younger and better.

The only good news from this if it's true - Abramovic is not leaving

Same, but I wouldn't complain if we did get Torres.

I wonder if buying Torres have something to do with us trying to reach Kaka. Because it will be strange to play 4-3-3 with 2 strikers that don't play on wing although I know that Drogba could be able to play there. But with Kaka Ancelotti could finally play his beloved 4-diamond-2 and I wonder how this would work out.

I´d take Torres any day

he might be a little bit of an injury prone, but that only because he is never fully rested at Liverpool with only one real striker upfront.

If he joined Chelsea he would have the time to get fit, because we wouldn´t relay on him like the Scum.

In Torres and Sturridge we might have a perfect striker-partnership which could replace Drogba and Anelka one day.

Chelsea boss slams door on World Cup winning strikerCarlo Ancelotti has closed the door on Chelsea signing Fernando Torres this summer, saying “We don’t need him”

Asked following Chelsea’s 1-0 over Crystal Palace this afternoon the Italian categorically slammed the door on the Double winners signing the World Cup winning striker.

“Nothing has changed from when I said before we did not need another striker.

“I have Salomon Kalou, Daniel Sturridge, we don’t need any more strikers.”

Ancelotti also has coming back from the World Cup his two main strikers Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka.

Before Ancelotti had a chance to elaborate, a Chelsea spokesman piped up that: “the club did not comment on speculation”.

Now that might be what Ancelotti believes to be the case, but it’s the opinion of the football board that ultimately counts so until Torres states he does not want to come to Chelsea or signs for someone else or a new contract with Liverpool, Chelsea fans can continue to believe that the Blues might yet see Torres in Chelsea colours sooner rather than later.

Ancelotti added: “I am happy with this squad – it won the Premier League and FA Cup last season.

“As for the Champions league, we will do our best – we do not need to change anything.

So the last time he said something like that was in January when we didn't sign anyone.

I guess that rules out us buying either the the ladyboy or Aguero mellow.gif
