Pacquiao 1,834
Gotta like how people think Torres can cut it as a winger just because of a few (FEW!) moments like the one you mentioned there. He may be able to run past people or even put in decent crosses from time to time but doesn't mean he'll be successful as a wide player and not to mention, it takes a lot more than that to flourish on the flanks. The fact of the matter is, he's just a washed up footballer, who doesn't seem to have the brain to even get the basics right.I never said he'd be successful as a winger because of a few good moments, just that he may be better off trying something different as playing as a striker is not working for him, especially if he has a good attackng fullback alongside him, it could work out for him. RoyalBlues 4,050
Feel sorry for Torres. If Milan ever have to terminate his loan contract, no way he will be coming back to Chelsea, he will be loan to another club, most likely outside England, maybe he should go back to Spain. How is MU legend doing at Sociedad? Maybe he could pick Torres.
MrBlueGuy 1,552
Probably but ronaldinho runs him close considering how sharply he fell after winning back to back WPOTY. They both declined well before they even reached age 30. The difference perhaps is ronaldinho had incredible natural talent and flair which he still displayed occassionally and never sulks or zaps positive energy out of a teamTbf Ronaldinho decline is overstated, obviously he couldn't maintain his brilliant Barca forms but his Milan form was OK at 1st I thought, even now I still see occasion videos of him popping a free kick in here and there for his club in the Brazil league. Torres decline is just borderline on unbelievable though, I mean he looks like a Sunday league player, can't even do the very basic right anymore. It is like someone goes inside his body and decides to manipulates his brain so his football ability is reduced to 10% of what it once was. Something to watch out for with our youngstersInjury and big money move = end of Torres. It is sad really - I know he's a multi millionaire - but money ain't everything, it only is to those that don't have it. My mate inherited around £5 million when his parents died, got a Ferrari etc - 2 years later diagnosed with Stomach cancer and 4 months later passed away, even his money couldn't save him and he did say he'd give it all up just to live and bring up his kids. That's when I realised chasing money is less important and life is about how you feel. Beepu, NiclasCFC and iseah100

You said it yourself, he went from winning back to back ballon dor to an ok/average player at milan. Thats very bad decline. Normally when ballondor winners or contenders still in their 20's decline, they go from elite level to partially world class or at worst, just a level below world class. Dinho pretty much went from being the best player in the world to average/mediocre.

How can we be sure of this? We've seen Torres play.Make a list of all the attributes required to be a successful wide man, then scratch off the ones Torres possesses. Any guesses as to how many items will remain on the list when you've done that? My feeling is that it would be exactly the same number you started with. Who should have a better understanding of what Torres has become than a man who watched it happen then was saddled with him a second time? Pacquiao 1,834
It won't. What's the point of trying something different if he can't even get the basics right?because what is the point persisting with something that clearly isnt working.
