CHOULO19 24,332
I honestly and sadly see this occuring in January. Not unless we get a striker. If we have to start Lukaku against Napoli I'll cry.

BlueLion. 21,491
Someone just learned a new vocab word. Alex knows more big words than most... he just chooses to use the big ones where appropriate rather than cramming them in at every opportunity like he used to
Liquidator 5,176
Once again he came on and had virtually no impact. We can say 'give him playing time' but the fact is we gave him several games to prove himself last season at the expense of Drogba who is far better and nothing came of it. We can't keep risking throwing away results because we can't score goals because we have Torres up front so that almost a year down the line he can 'prove himself'. Last season we were moaning that nobody was giving him service (although I must point out that Benayoun put Torres through on goal several times against Wigan and Newcastle) so we bring in Mata. Still nothing from Torres though apart from a goal against Swansea and Man U and a brace against Genk (in a game where he also missed two absolute sitters)Sorry Nando but you never have and probably never will look anything like you did at Liverpool. BlueLion. 21,491
We have a fairly decent run now where we have mid-table teams in the league and a couple of FA Cup ties. If he can't recapture his form during this period as our main striker, it will be official that he is hopeless and must be sold. He needs to friggin START games.
Badboy 1,526
This is Torres's time to shine now as Droggers will be gone and he has that role to himself probably. I don't see how we are going to play Sturridge in the middle because he offers so much on a wide position because of his pace and yoof. I can see Mata being hell bent on trying to set him up but Danny almost certainly won't lol, he's a yoof on a mission to the Euro's.
Blue Armour 4,439
I think you'll find Rooney went through a patch as bad as this and got back to form, at least he was playing the whole time. Strikers need a run of games and I'd really like to see Torres getting a good long run in the starting 11. Can anyone tell me when Torres' longest run in the starting 11 was and how many games it was for?Rooney was also restricted to mostly appearances as a sub around that time...although he did start some of the less important games..Torres has to win his starting role back, but I agree he needs more minutes and appearances than what he's getting now (namely just the last 10-15 minutes of alternate games)

Steve 10,227
Why, he doesn't try in the first team.Silly comment. It's hard to "try" in the first team when you are sitting on the bench every game. He comes on and looks hungry for the ball. You cannot compare him to drogba because they play a different game. Torres plays of the last man and waits for that ball to be played through to him. Which is hard to recieve when you only get 10 minutes here and there. xPetrCechx, ZanSnake, nofreakingway and 1 other

Watch him during the ten minutes he has, it was at walking pace, and the defenders did not have any trouble marking him.

Can i ask, do you go to games?

But I made it a specific note of watching him when he's playing, and I have to say the lack of workrate is really disappointing. Especially as I've been advocating for him to get a chance in the first team.

When at game you can see the posistions he tries to get himself into. This is the main reason he was so successful at liverpooll, was because of the fact that they played to his advantages. Which is something we need to start doing. Before he got sent off and he was starting every game, you could see how well him and Mata were playing together because Mata waited for his runs and gave the ball to him on a platter. Sure he would not take every chance but he started scoring more when those chances were given to him. Ezio

I have not witnessed it in the Spurs game however.

Interesting though watching the last game and Mata ( I know of topic) and his frustration at making the run and Danny not passing then compare a CF making run after run for the same result?
