Popular Post! J.F. 1,484 Posted September 2, 2011 Popular Post! Share Posted September 2, 2011 Spanish third division side CF Fuenlabrada have invited Atlético for a friendly to inaugurate their 1,200 seat Fernando Torres Stadium, named after their hometown superstar and Atleti idol. The match will take place on Thursday, the 1st of September.Atleti were the natural opponent of choice for Fuenlabrada to debut their new grounds, as Torres was groomed through the Rojiblanco youth system before being promoted to the first team, where he quickly earned elite status as one of the world’s most lethal strikers before taking off for England.El Niño visited the stadium himself back in March, according to AS, when construction was completed. The Chelsea striker was in town to receive the Gold Medal of the City of Fuenlabrada, granted to him “in recognition of his sporting and personal values, his professional career and his dedication and loyalty to the city of which he is a native, and of which he serves as an ambassador.”Los Colchoneros will field a starting line-up composed of non-international players, as several members of the squad have been called up by their respective national teams for the upcoming round of international fixtures.http://www.atleticofans.com/9385/atletico-to-play-friendly-against-fuenlabrada/ Tortilla9, lecter, Madmax and 3 others
Madmax 9,219
So that makes it two current Chelsea players to have a stadium named after them. Brilliant! nofreakingway, sLOVEnian Blue and lecter

Ollie 4,400
Torres worries me. He needs to just put in a great performance against someone shit like Arsenal, bang in 4 and say meh i'm ok. The more he goes without scoring, the more i'm getting agitated.

His confidence built up during pre-season and I hope he has a positive year.
Ray. 217
I'm wondering whether we might see a partnership of Torres and Lukaku up front, that is if AVB will play them together, like with Drogba and Anelka a couple of seasons ago, they had that period where they were completely on fire and worked well together. Madmax 9,219
The benefit of a first full, healthy pre-season in years is evident. He looked so jaded and low on confidence last season but it's been very different so far. Obviously still hasn't scored but you get a feeling that it's getting closer. The movement is sharper and more intelligent. Hopefully he gets some decent service soon and starts banging them in. nofreakingway

Ollie 4,400
He needs to stop drifting out wide and so deep and he needs to have a few more digs at goal. He needs to play off that last defender like Darren Bent does. Of course he needs service too, Danny and Juan can provide that if they play. Malouda should be able to too. He needs that game where he scores 2 or 3. Old Trafford soon, bout time he scored against them.

Thankfully he's yet to play a full game with Sturridge & Mata, so hopefully they'll form a good trio.Because clearly Torres, Malouda & Anelka/Kalou does not work. DYC. 7,542
He is not on the bench against liechtenstein! They left him out!He hasn't been a starter for a while and deservedly so. Negredo, Llorente and Soldado (for some reason Soldado doesn't get called up) are all in much better form. Del Bosque has been good to Torres until now but if he keeps this up, he'll loose his place.
