  1. 1. Rafa Out?

FSW might have done something in the Liverpool academy, but there is absolutely no way he'll have any sort of impact on ours, simply because this is not his job.

True, but Piazon and Ake got a run out, something i would have never expected Di Matteo to do/

Not that they were pulled up though him, but he gave them a chance....and that was heartwarming, considering the last few years where none of our managers even gave youngsters bench positions.

Our academy doesn't need a whole lot doing to it (for which the board and Arnesen need some credit), but before today Benitez gave two academy graduates their league debuts. That's a great boost for every lad working hard, to see someone like them getting a chance in the first-team because they deserved it.

Perhaps you haven't heard but Robbie played our academy product in the Champions League FINAL.

Anyways, nice to see the two youngsters getting a few minutes, not that it means anything.

I believe Ake was brought on in the 90th minute....

Ignore some of the retards on here mate; here's a rule of thumb for you: if they can't respect the English language, then they aren't worth taking notice of. Ironically, almost all the idiots on here can't spell, use proper grammar or communicate with the Internet in any respectable manner.

Back on topic; quite liking the way we are playing under Rafa. Yes he's a FSW, but at least he's currently Chelsea's FSW! Good job Rafa!

Since you didn't answer my question about who you consider a " retard" I would just make one point to you, You say they can't use "proper grammar".

I suggest you learn that "retard " is a VERB not a NOUN ...Incidentally many of our forum are not native English speakers ,,,

He did make an odd appearance, is it even comparable to the fact he got a CL final start ?

Bosingwa was a second choice RB in the AVB era, don't try to minimize what Robbie did there.

Debuts are ok, but even Nemanja Matic (random name) got a debut, yet he never got a proper chance.

I am not minimizing what RDM did here at all, i was just appreciating what Benitez has done since he was appointed.

My point was not that RDM or Avb NEVER gave our youngsters runouts, but that far too many times in their tenures when we had a game already won, and had a sub or two left, both RDM and AVB either did not use those subs, or at times brought ferriera on, or someone who did not really need that vital few minutes of experience and gametime.

That was my point....

I hope if we have more games won by the 60-70th minute, these talents get more chances. If we can even get one of these academy players to become quality, even if they are subs, it will make my decade.

(For entertainment purposes, defenders dont count! )

ryan bertrand??? in a champions league final over sturridge/malouda/ferreira...

sam hutchinson when leading 5-0 to qpr (probably the only time we had such a scoreline under rdm)

Hutchinson was nice to see as well... had forgotten about that one....

IMO Ryan bertrand was not a chance, rather he had been tested before for certain qualities in the games last season that gave that extra defensive assurance while attacking.... he was a surprise choice, but was kind of well into the team picture before the Final.....

Im talking more on a holistic perspective, have a read of some of my posts after the one you quoted....

If we are soon 4-5 nil up, and Rafa gets these guys on again, that will be fantastic man management as well as a sign of a good manager.

did read and do agree with good man management but u have to give rdm his credit too. i mean he used ryan in the way no one would have thought it was possible. i dont think avb gave ryan much time on the pitch (not sure on this), but rdm actually used ryan brilliantly with the amount of time on the pitch and all.

I like to see the posts talking about the possibility that Rafa might be hired long-term. However, they overlook one thing. It will be for Rafa and Abromovich to decide - not just Abromavich. Rafa turned down Chelsea's offer of a temporary contract when AVB was sacked. This time he accepted an 18 month contract with an opt-out for both parties after the end of this season. Rafa wanted that. He has other irons in the fire. He has been approached by Real Madrid several times in the past and this year that interest has been revived. He has bee approached by two other Spanish clubs, a leading German club, a leading Italian club, two national teams and some far eastern clubs. There is also the outside chance that Man City, Arsenal and LFC will be vacant come the summer. He has consistently said he prefers to work in the PL because he likes the football culture and because he wants to give his two daughters and his wife stability. (His wife's charity was voted charity of the year on the Wirral last week). The Chelsea job gives him a platform to demonstrate his qualities and win trophies. If it ends in the summer nobody will be able to say he was sacked because officially it is an interim appointment. If Ab does offer an extended contract Rafa will be in a position to bargain the terms. In the meantime he is free to negotiate a contract with other clubs without being accused of disloyalty. Not a bad position for him.
