WHY DO PEOPLE THINK WE NEED TO SUPPORT BENITEZ IN ORDER TO SUPPORT CHELSEA?

WE CAN CHEER FOR CHELSEA AND STILL WANT BENITEZ TO FUCK OFF. THEY DONT NEED TO BE RELATED...

Yeah i agree, however if you have a fuck off benitez chant for 5 mins in the middle of the game then it starts to become related, as we have to get behind the team during the game, and not be against our manager.

As if there wasn't massive pressure on Chelsea managers before, now he will have to come in and win straight away.

And he surely can't afford the 1 win in 6 shit RDM did because instead of "We're in transition" "Believe" "RDM isn't doing anything wrong" it will be "Fuck off Benitez, you have ruined our team"

If the board can't accept it from Di Matteo, and his run was mostly against tough opposition, why accept it from Benitez?

Benitez may love to use Romeu (The whole Spanish connection). He'll try to mould Romeu into a player that somewhat resembles the play style of Alonso. I also think he'll start choosing Azpilicueta as he is a natural RB and also the Spanish thing.

I agree with the Azpi point. He's looked good in his few starts and I'd like to see us go with Cahill and Bane in the middle.

But I think Romeu is never going to be Alonso. If anything he could become the Lucas of our team - a midfield destroyer who can find a pass to one of the creative guys, and occasionally chip in with an assist or a goal. Having said that, he's a Barcelona grad so we all know who the best guy to help him kick on is.

If he wins the CWC, FA Cup and League treble will we be singing "Rafa Benitez, we want you to stay" come the end of the season?

No. He could win the League, Champions League (unlikely), FA Cup and CWC and all that will change is what he can stick on his CV when he leaves at the end of the season.

My only expectations are for him to not F*** up in any major way and get us to third in the table. Then next season we start anew with a few more players out the door (Malouda, Ferreira etc.) and a host of youngsters with a season of experience under their belt ready to build something special at this club.

This is a pretty rotten day for Chelsea, but we are still Chelsea and the future is unbelievably promising.

Swansea, WBA, Liverpool. Not exactly "tough". We had 2 points from those 3 games.

Why only point out those games though (and we've struggled against Liverpool for years)? There were games against Shakhtar twice, Utd twice and Juventus in our poor run of games.

You didn't answer my question btw.

We were playing champion's league football in 1999 . We eliminated Invicibles Arsenal in the quarters finals of CL an were in the last 8 before 2003. How did that happen if we were usually finishing 6th in the league??

I said USUALLY. Do you know what that word means? And in 1999 we got a 3rd position.

It all comes down to Roman's mentality. He never wanted Robbie but he really didn't have much choice after he won big ears. So it really didn't take much for him to pull the trigger.

With Benitez it's different. He's only a short-term appointment.

What I think we all have to understand is that Roman has a plan and it never involved Di Matteo. Ultimately, he's the guy who makes the decisions and to be quite honest, his decisions over the last decade (almost) have given me some of the greatest moments of my life.

That isn't to say we should follow him blindly, but there is a certain logic to his decisions.

My Liverpool friend says that there's no point listening to him in press conferences or in interviews as absolutely nothing he says makes even the slightest sense.

"Torres will play as the potato while Mata will act as the ketchup. Who puts potatoes and ketchup together? Well I don't but I'm sure someone does."

That sort of stuff.
