🇳🇬 Victor Moses

Seems this rumor has picked up again after Whelan coming out and saying we're still in talks for him. Personally if he plays like this for us I would love him. Maybe he should of scored when he went clean through and crossed it when he shot but still played class against them!

Absolutely tore Sagna a new arsehole.

Also in this video showing his goals his finishing and movement is very good for some of the goals.

A player like Moses is really difficult to predict just how well he would do at Chelsea. The number of young British players who have moved from being a big fish in a small pond to one of the big clubs in the modern era is vast but there seems to have been just as many failures as successes.

For every Damien Duff or Joe Cole there is a Shaun Wright Phillips.

The one thing I will say however about Victor Moses is if we get him for £6-8m (not counting bonuses, as bonuses will be worth paying in the future if they are an indicator of his success at the club) then it is not a very big risk. We would be able to command a similar fee in a couple of years if he hasn't developed as well as we would have liked.

We need more English, currently we have only 8 in 28 players (according to Transfermarkt), and with the likes of Josh going on loan next season, and Ross Turnbull being third choice keeper, we really need to think about adding more for both the Home-grown restriction as well as trying to keep the ratio of foreign stars to home-soil players a little better, imo.

^Isn't that about the Home-grown players rule. Because if it , Moses fits that bill. And Telegraph were reporting that we have bid 9m for him today. Dunno if it's correct.

they were saying on SSN yesterday that via blabbamouth Whelan we are currently at the £9m mark with about £6m of that cash upfront and the rest in add-ons. Whelan said last week he would accept £8m plus £2m in add ons.

Because moses played for the england under 19's etc, does he count as home grown....?

he counts as home grown on the basis that he has lived in England for more than 3 consecutive years since before his 18th birthday. the fact he has now played for the country of his birth Nigeria at senior level does not effect that. Lukaku will qualify as "homegrown" if he stays playing in England for another 2 years for example.

Victor has lived in England since he was 11 years old for the record. 10 years. so he strolls through the homegrown rule criteria.

Still need more. Despite the fact Moses coming here, all he would be would be replacing the number of Jish if he goes on loan. We might need to look at players like Rodwell, Barkley, etc who are young and talented, as well as adding more depth to the squad as they develop to become future English and Chelsea starters. Or, we should promote more English players through the academy, which is easier said then done!

We should have gone for Jones imo, was just one example of an English youngster who could have been nurtured to be a team player.

depends on what you mean by still need more for. if it`s to satisfy the minimum requirement of 8 we are o.k. JT,Cahill,Ashley,Sturridge,Bertrand,Moses,Turnbull,Lampard,Hutchinson makes 9. even if Josh leaves on-loan. that is of course presuming we will sign Moses. we meet the requirement without signing him tho.

Not really about meeting the requirement, but more having English internationals for present and future, in order to show that despite the Belgians, Spanish, Barzilian, and other foreign players that we have, we still have an English backbone to the team.

ah right. yeah it is important Jose understood this. aslong as we don`t go the liverpool route . i hope the ones we bring in are as mentally tough as JT and Ashley because unless they stay at home and do jigsaws for fun.they will get dragged through the shit by the media.

Why cant we hijack the Lavezzi deal with PSG? He's probably the fastest and most skillful wingers in the market currently, if we cant get hulk, we should hijack lavezzi.

Moses is decent and has his good moments, but this move has too much risk attached to it..... not on the money angle, but whether he becomes a stewart downing types who was good in a small team but couldnt step up. Im not one who agrees with the argument that he was cheap so even if he fails its ok. We do need someone though.

Additionally, i think its about time we scrapped our youth setup and spend that money on buying players, as either our youth has been crap over 8 years, or start churning out prospects and bring them as back ups. im not saying many need to come through....even if 1 or 2 come through, that will be good. Bertrand is an exception. A little sarcasm with some anger.

Our youth team has consistently won trophies, yet other teams keep having their players come in as backups, and a few even make it into starting lineups.... for us.... its no one coming through, just buy buy buy.

With regards to your youth team comments, couldn't you argue that other clubs actually give them first team opportunities? Against the poorer teams / league cup we should be playing them, never going to develope without first team opportunities.

I don't think we should sign players just because they are English and talented. We have De Bruyne, McEachran and Oscar for a midfield role in the future, no more needed.

Lukaku will be sent on loan so that he can play plenty of games. So, then having Moses as a realistic 3rd choice striker wouldn't be a bad idea.I can see RDM giving Moses around 10 to 15 games in the 12/13 season but I doubt Moses would want the move.
