You are delusional if you think Abramovich's hand was forced by the fans. He doesn't have to listen to any of us

Abramovich definately does what he wants, evident in the constant hiring and scaking of mangaers over the last 9 years...

A good season to me will be:

•Comfortable 3rd place Finish

•Playing good football

•AT LEAST 3 cups

This would all be a good season considering we're implementing a new style with new, young players. The season after we could challenge.

Yup. Next season is all about building the foundation to challenge for titles/trophies for the future.

looking forward to seeing oscar play for brazil.. That should cheer everyone up a bit. I am not as concerned as many here, but definately think agaisnt brighton, we should get as full strength as possible, and try to give them at least 60 mins of real game time together, becuase some of our interplay just doesn't seem to be working.. Hazard is doing very well individually, but Lampard is the main person who is trying to spread the play atm, and we need a better connection between them. I will start to get worried if a week from now, and a week before the community shield we have a bad performance against brighton... Another week of training, back in english conditions, where the weather shouldn't be too hot, and hopefully, we can end our pre season with a bang.

Also we are still missing our 4 from the olympics. In particular, Mata is a huge player for us and whilst oscar is young, if the alternative is Meireles then Oscar is someone we really need in the team... And thats not overhyping but it should be clear that Oscar is better on the ball and in his passing, which is something we have been lacking, and something that should be very good this season... And we know the qualities mata gives us...

That's not how its meant to work in a 4231 though. If you both pivot players driving forward then we get absolutely destroyed on the counter because the defence gets exposed. This is what i mean by they have to work in tandem, if one of them goes forward, the other has to hold his position so that we stay strong in attack and defence. Why do you think we've been getting destroyed on the counter in the past 3 games? Mikel was just going forward and making himself available for the pass, but he was straying out of position in doing so

yep but last year's main problem with the double pivot is the lack of attacking penetration. the 4-2-3-1 is unbalanced by the looks of things.

another reason for gettin ripped on the counter is the defence. the defence maybe great with the team helping out but on its own, the defence is not world class by any means

You guys are reading too much into these friendly games tbh...

Maybe but if a team play well during a pre-season,they will be able to carry momentum heading into the season but right now, we aren't. Only 1 more game to sort things out whereas City still have 4 more, if they have any problems that is.

Again, these are friendly games. The purpouse of them is for the team to have fun and to get to know one another better, try out some new tactics and players. We're also missing one of our keyplayers, Mata, and we've played with Lukaku up front who clearly isnt read for that big step. Considering its also friendly games, they dont want to risk getting hurt so theyre playing with more care.

Im convinced we will play alot better when we're playing with our starting 11 and (hopefully) sign 1-2 more players. But if people expect us to play like Barca, forget it...

It maybe pre-season but not showing commitment and that bit more desire by using "it's only pre-season" as an excuse is just pure BS. A very lazy excuse at that. IF that was the first or second game, then fine but it wasn't. We have a lot more players this season and none of them have exactly played and staked a strong claim in the first team. And no reason not to do well with Mata. Not being able to keep and pass the ball and defend properly certainly has nothing to do with that!

Don't think anyone in their right mind would expect us to play like Barcelona but really though, what is our style of play under RDM so far? We are neither dominating and constantly putting a team under pressure NOR playing on the counter. We just seem to be doing a bit both at the moment.

Im getting sick with all the whining. What do you expect, really? These are fking FRIENDLY GAMES. For some reason you think the players take these games as serious as you do, perhaps some do (youngsters) to prove themselfes, but overall I couldnt care less if we lost or won all pre-season games.

The pre-season doesnt lay ground for how the season will be. History proves that too.

Whining? HA!

Had we won all of those games, people would be shouting from the rooftop about how great our squad is, we're gonna win it all...

Poor, poor game. Our squad is overrated, if we will think that we're European Champions and sleep on this glory then it will be deadly for us this season.

Our defence plays like they never played together... Bring Azpilicueta and Hulk.

I really don't think the players we have are overrated. Hazard, Mata, Marin, Torres, Oscar, Ramirez, Terry, Cahill, Cole, Ivan, Luiz, Cech. How can anyone call that overrated, it's the manager who will be tested this season because it will be his job to get them playing well together and so far it doesn't look like he is doing a very good job. Mind you it has only been 4 games so I'm not fussed as of yet. We all know how fast thing's can turn around from bad to good, just look at our previous season.
