Come on.... They have not even started a league game together and have only started 1 UCL game together IIRC and played another one together where KDB came on with under 20 mins remaining. We need to see them play more till we make that judgement tbh.

Some ways I agree with you. For instance I miss Mata but I think under Mourinho, his ability to press and perform in attack every game would be a question mark because naturally he is a slow player. However with KDB, when I see him, I know you will disagree but I always see him press hard, track back and do wonders going forward. He is for me the complete player. He is not a great presser or he is a great workhorse like Willian but he has got it in him because he has a fair amount of pace and stamina. He played almost every min for Wolfsburg and would never die out.

Cesc not performing is not to do with him dying out. He is just being innefective and struggles to dictate the game and looks more sloppy on the ball. I thought he was acc decent tonight but when I see Fabregas play in that role, I think KDB should be there because he can do what they are doing on the defensive but contribute much more going forward. I struggle to beleive that the defensive work rate required would have stalled him. Hazard is not naturally a defensive working player but he overcame the criticism before and adapted because he is a world class player and KDB is on that level too. Mourinho was just too rash.

Regarding Ramires, he is not the player he used to be but he still has shown in some matches this season what he brings unique to the team. He is not a lightweight despite his size and holds his own imo. When he is running forward it is quite difficult to bully him off the ball.

Who is still on par this season?

Dave and I guess Willian. Costa, oscar, cesc, matic all burned out by the beginning of 2015 imo. Look at them and look at KDB. Can you really think that KDB would not burn out as well, even in lesser time.

Forget about his contribution in attack where's the fucking work rate?! Where's the non-stop chasing and pressing high?! Tackling hard... nothing!

He's been this slow pedestrian for both Chelsea and Brazil lately - rightfully so sitting on the bench for both.

What's going on?!

Definitely burned out physically.

If anything, he would be pressing high and chasing like a dog, but I think he cannot anymore physically like costa, cesc and matic

I can certainly buy that that's the reason, but why?!

He hasn't been playing much lately. Had a much needed break... yes picked up a injury after a good first showing, but it's been a while and he shows no signs of improvement.

He's also fairly young to be suffering so much with fitness.

he is still "burned" out? for fuck's sake he got his summer off - 2months. we were done with the league 3 matches before (1month) and he has barely played any football this season (2months).

i guess i am burned out too playing that match last year for my college team.

whats even sadder is the fact that i wish he starts the game against whu as i dont want to see cesc in the starting line up. :sigh: things i do for love chelsea.

Maybe your right, however, the way I see it similar to hazard, costa and cesc situation is that their all burned out physically. Resting won't cure all those small injuries you accrued playing at that tempo and without proper healing.

I think of it as a boxer getting hit in the chin too many times. All the rest in the world won't cure you and eventually, slight punches will knock you out cold.

Oscar's injury history is always a secret at Chelsea, which makes it harder to assess him physically

fair enough, i get what you are saying, but what i dont get is how or why it has been so. oscar or hazard or cesc or matic are not the first bunch of players to play a fair chunk of the season. lamps did it for years. neville, scholes have done it for years.

if you are talking about fatigue i have to disagree.

if you are talking about niggling injuries which dont go away, maybe. but more than injured, these players look disheartened. uninterested.

for all the talk of backing jose and jose being the best manager in the world to the last person in the squad, most of the players look like they dont give a shit about the manager, the club or the game. and i am talking mostly about attackers - hazard, cesc, oscar, costa, pedro. they dont look like they are enjoying their game. so i dont know if its injuries or just something mental.

Honestly, Oscar isn't really ideal for what Jose envisions imo and his probably dieing out physically from it. Cesc took half a season before he broked down under Jose too.

Also, maybe he regrets branding him his n10, but I don't think he would of made Juan mata his n10.

Yeah, perhaps you're right about that to be honest. Problem is, there's a dying breed of n10s that are in the José mould and it's difficult to see how he plans to go forward if he is to let Oscar go at the end of the season. Hazard could be moved to there and we bring in a LW but then I think even Hazard would suffer with the needs of JM's tactics. I do agree what you said before though, that Mourinho won't regret selling KdB, he doesn't seem like the ideal n10 for Mou's systems. It would only work if he was out a bit wide in midfield but no primarily doing a winger's job.

Difference really...

Lamps never pressed like Oscar did and lamps is about 6 ft and near 200lbs. Also, he was shielded by beasts in essien, maks, ballack, etc.

DO you really think its a mental thing with all those players though? If it was just oscar, it would make sense, but all those players have died out since the turn of the year. In jose's third year at madrid, everyone died out too from what i remembered.

I've always believed Jose's tactics/playstyle can never be a long term idea. Players, especially attackers will get sick of Jose's tactics, etc.

I think Vidal would be the only player that could work honestly...

Prime Vidal.

we had oscar, mata, kdb as our no.10 options. with the way things are we might have none of them by the end of the season. in 3 seasons. just in 3seasons. jose deserves all the praise possible for that.

I wonder how long we'll keep moaning about that until we'l finally stop crying over spilled milk. Jesus, it has become utterly boring.

If we still had Robben! Good job Chelsea for let go of Robben.

Wish Zola was still here, why let him go?
