Styles 9,790
I'm sure he already is more useful because he's more versatile and more tactical. He's also more complete.Mata is a hell of a footballer, so I wouldn't be as bold as saying Oscar is already better (even if they're different), but I can see why some may think so. Different profiles, both top class, but I think Oscar has a very high ceiling, so it's sort of only a matter of time before him being better (or at least considered as such by more people).Agreed. To think Oscar is this good now at 22 you can dream of him becoming a truly world class player if he continues to develop. And for the record, Mata is a very good player and I'd be really sad to see him go. Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
He's going to be unfairly compared with Mata for the rest of his Chelsea career. That's simply the reality of the situation. There's going to be unreasonable, back-breaking expectations and pressure on him depending on how well Mata plays for those Manc cunts. And it's only going to get worse with every Goal and assist Mata gets. Sad to see a 21 year old with that amount of pressure on his shoulders, can't believe Mourinho would put him in such a situation. He'll handle it with ease. This was a kid, until very recently, wearing the shirt of Pele for Brazil.Oscar has got this. The Skipper 20,609
Yeah. More like Sneidjer than any Brazilian No.10 I know of.He is a breath of fresh air without all those fancy footworks and unnecessary step-overs.Nah, Sneijder has brilliant vision, which is one thing Oscar hasn't got (yet hopefully) in his game. Sneijder has insane technique in a lot of things he does, so I wouldn't compare him to Oscar at all. lionsden

The Skipper 20,609
The Mata transfer will put a lot of pressure on Oscar. I hope he starts fully proving that we'll be fine without Juan - I want him to step up and consistently provide those killer passes. I hope he has that in his locker. He needs to be a lot more creative in the final third. Johnny Kills
BlueLyon 9,359
The feeling that Mata left because of Oscar will stay in people's heads for quite some time...especialy if Oscar doesnt deliver and Mata shines for United.---As for Oscar goes, yes he is young and all, but for someone who will be our main #10 and forced Mata out of team because of better performances, I expect him to be consistent and visible against top sides aswell. The kid's got everything in his game, if he could just consistently prove he has finesse in the final third he'd be almost unplayable. Oscar has been one of our two best players this season and has no reason to worry if he keeps improving as he has done. The guy is Brazil's number 10 - he can handle the pressure. Korea 734
Why would he worry about so call pressure of taking over for Mata.He freaking the number 10 (now 11) this summer at the World Cup at Brazil. Im not sure about you guys, but Im pretty sure being the cam for Brazil and playing in your home country is a lot more difficult situation, than this one. kellzfresh, Barbara and The Skipper
BlueLyon 9,359
Oscar didnt force Mata out. Read again; I say he did forced him out because of better performances. Its not his fault, but still...he took Mata's position because of that (and sure a big thanks to Mou aswell).

lionsden 4,689
When I talk of no 10's (I will exclude the ozil, silva types) this is what they look like. Notice the close control, vision, defence splitting passes, imagination and just all round fantastic creativity. These are the type of quality a top club needs and worth losing a player like mata for not oscar.

We have Oscar. You stick with your Youtube videos of players who were in their prime at least half a decade ago. The game moves on, different systems emerge. If you don't like the system we're using then why not leave? You don't seem to have that great an affinity for this club anyway.

You just post negative shit constantly under some pretence of being realistic. Throughout this whole debate you've posted sarcastic shit that isn't related to what this club is actually trying to achieve. I don't have my head stuck up Jose's butt, but I do respect the man and what he is trying to do. I also think he is getting results that suggest that his system does have merit. It's sad to see Mata go but we've got fine players like Oscar, Willian and Hazard as well as great young talent who might actually come through with some stability in the coaching position.Plus I doubt there's anything you could actually say that was worthwhile or interesting. Sorry, but having seen your efforts that's just how I feel. Players like Rui Costa, Laudrup etc. were great players but that means the square root of fuck all when we're discussing players' suitability to our coach's system. Maybe join your friend Gilvorak at the cafe. Neither of you would have to change your posting styles.
