Stingray 9,441
'The window dressing' as you put it, is part & parcel of maintaining the clubs image. If you have players spouting stuff like "we we're frightened!" of tiny clubs like City, it sends out all the wrong messages. Essentially you have to be aware of how certain 'soundbites' can and will be taken out of context, regardless of intent.I agree ... maar 'on avait peur' in French is actually different from the english we were frightened ... So that translation/meaning thingy also plays along, I guess. Flemishblue
Belgiannutt 3,201
Think Hazard's words are being misinterpreted by some. His words don't really mean being scared or frightend but more along the lines of showing to much respect. A Chelsea player shouldn't be saying that about fucking Man-City!..It would only be a 'little' acceptable if it was said about the mighty Barcelona, but even then.. still unacceptable for an elite club like us. After those comments, the club should sit him down.. and give him a run through of comparisons between the two clubs. Powerpoint presentations.. the lot. Stingray 9,441
Maybe ... Just maybe, the effect of his communication on the fighting spirit of team will be bigger than the hurt it does to our petty honour... Just maybe, I would have expected one of the legends go all: "WTF! This is Chelsea!!! NOOO MOORE! Nobody does this the fuck to us!!!"But there was only silence and a newbie that dares to say what we actually all thought ( just look at the threads). Even when what he said hurts a bit 'cause we know it is true. Flemishblue

Just because he said we were scared of City or we showed them too much respect, doesn't mean we are generally. So, I'm not really why are we reading so much into this. We'll fare better next season against City(with a competent manager in charge!). Flemishblue

sureshot 20
Should he just shut up and pretend everything was good? If he felt like there was too much respect shown to the opponent or that there wasn't enough fighting spirit, isn't he allowed to say so? You're going to have standard interviews when players can't say what they feel anymore. I don't even look at the football interviews anymore because it's always the same prechewed bullshit they are telling us.If he speaks his mind, it means he's ready to try and improve that part of his game. I think it's a good thing coming from him because he looks complacent at times. Eden2020

Mufassir08 2,400
Also another thing that i have noticed is that benitez is playing hazard on the right instead of his favoured left wing position.
Korea 734
TO be honest, the only players Rafa favors is Fernando and Mata.... and maybe Luis Styles
