Its so hypocrite of you, football is just like every other profession. People can go to a smaller and lesser known company to have a hgher role and payment, why cant footballers do the same?

A lot of us would do the same....

I wish him luck, but I feel sorry for him personally. - clearly wasn't the deal he was looking for. You can tell he's not nominally ecstatic about his transfer: "I had no reasons to leave, but my agent called me and told that Porto and Zenit have reached a deal. This will be good for me, Porto and Zenit." Porto as a club haven't looked at his interest as a footballer and his agents have more importantly failed him. Money has undoubtedly dictated this move.

I know leagues are subjectively preferred, but the UEFA standings do objectively highlight the step down for Witsel (really gutted about Axel) and Hulk. They do have UCL though, and I hope they do well.

Drogba is 34 and has been there, done it and won it all. Hulk is 26 and proved very little. Big difference

Hulk has won Europe League and also Portugese League, Portugese Cup and Super Cup all of them thrice. Do you mean that in order to be proved you have to win anything in either Spain or England? Why do you discredit leagues that only differ from the others by the amount of money that attracts both better players and victories? Maybe by spending so much Zenit will try to go for some major trophy?

And if you looked at the table that Eviltwinz posted Russian league is currently better than the Netherlands' one which consists of great football clubs like Ajax, PSV or Feyenoord.

Besides Zenit is building quite an awesome squad including the likes of Criscito, Bruno Alves and Danny.

when a player leaves to a league that's not very popular to promote it for money you're saying he's a cunt, but when he goes for money to a good league it's all good. double standards at it's best.

do you guys remember that guy from the team that won CL last year who went to China? what was his name?

You can't even compare both cases. A player still in his prime going to Russia shows a lack of ambition, there's no 2 ways about it.

No disrespect to Russia really, but it's not even one of the top 5 leagues in Europe!

And Hulk was saying at the beginning of the summer he would love to play in Spain or England because "they're two of the best leagues in the world" then he ends up in Russia lol.

Hulk moved because Porto needed the money, not because he truly wanted to. It's obvious by his quotes.

Yep. Same thing with Zlatan and Thiago Silva but that doesn't stop the majority of people from saying they're just greedy, money-grabbing cunts who chose money over football.

And dont forget that Porto still has James Rodriguez, Moutinho, Juan Iturbe, Alex Sandro, Danilo, Otamendi, Jackson Martinez who will sure leave for big money in next seasons.

Benfica has Rodri, Gaitan,...

I must say, they are truly great scouting.

A lot of us would do the same....

It's been mentioned before.

Most people would go for a crappier job the earnt more money so they can pay the bills, or upgrade their house/car because they have a family on the way. Increase of about $500-$1000 per week.

Footballers on the other hand would go to a different/crappier club for an increase of 100,000-150,000per week, where the money isnt a nessesity. If I was a pro footballer I'd love to earn 30-50 k a week and play for a club I WANT to play for.

i never understand those who say that? let people run their lives the way they want to. If we were in that position with an agent and family needs and the whole fiasco around us i highly doubt people would say no.

Just like the Brazilian will get better?

Brazilian league is getting better, but we dont have the kind of money we have in Russia. Cotinthians é a very good team, and it wont be a surprise if they defeat Chelsea in december.
