I read this as Hulk isn't confident that Porto will sell him for a fee deemed realistic to pay by Chelsea. If he comes out publicly stating he wants to leave and then still a fee cannot be agreed, he will isolate himself from the club and it's fans. He probably feels added responsibility to act 'correctly' as captain of the club.

down because they never sell two of thier hugh stars in one summer. Hulk is leaving, Porto already know that.

Yes hulk is 3 years older, but can we really afford to have him in there, completely unproven in the premier league? Hulk is also unproven in the premier league but he has a lot of champions league experience which jovetic doesn't have.

For me anyway its not even close.

Fiorentina as a team scored 37 goals. Porto scored 69. Jovetic scored about 1/3 of all of Fiorentina's goals. Jovetic was Fiorentina's leading scorer. with 13 goals-2nd best on his team was 4. Jovetic is 3 1/2 years younger than Hulk. He's cheaper than Hulk. Unlike Hulk, Jovetic has scored against top clubs. He scored goals against Milan, Roma, Juventus, etc... None of this is to say that he'll be better or worse or even worth buying, just that comparing statistics from very different quality leagues to players in different situations is ridiculous. Oscar Cardoza and Lima were the leading goal scorers in Portugal with 26 goals in 44 games and 28 in 45 respectively. You really think that these players are in the same class as Aguero, Cavani, Di Nitale, Higuain, Benzema, and all these players with similar strike rates in the top leagues?

The prem is a much harder league than the italian one, at fiorentina he is a big fish in a small pond, at chelsea he would be a smaller fish in much larger pond. Also another key problem which i didn't mention earlier is that his prefered position is ST, so he would have to play in a position he may not like as much at RW, unless we drop torres. Which would make no sense as if we are going to drop torres for a striker we may as well invest in someone like falcao, or cavani. Hulk on the other hand can play ST but his preferred position is RW which is where we need to fill. And the fact that it could work out to be 13 mil more for Hulk doesn't really bother me in slightest. If roman deems it to be a good investment then im fine with that.

Also the portugese league is definately not as good as the Italian one, but he can only play against the teams in his league and in that regard he has done great. It doesn't mean he wont do well in a bigger league.

Rodriguez has a 40 million euros release clause, hence why he isn't leaving as the 40 million hasn't been offered. Porto are happy to sell but for the release clause fees.

He would still be a go to guy, as torres and him would be our main goal getters, Hazard on the left and Mata will obvioulsy provide a lot as well as score themselves. Also i think the reason why people sometimes get annoyed with sturridge is that he gets his head down and doesn't look up and goes on his own. Hulk had a lot of assists last season and if you have his scoring record in that league i would be encouraging him to have a shot.

And i know that stats often are misconstrued and can be sued to support several arguments but based on the facts available i simply belief that Hulk will be better and perform a much vital role for chelsea than jovetic will.

If things were planned correctly we wouldn't be in this situation.

Sturridge has been whining all year long about how his natural position is the CF..yet we've been busy criticizing him for being selfish and not a team player.. why didn't we ever try him in the CF position?

We look like such a dumb club by buying Lukaku for 18-20 mill and not using him + not at least trying Sturridge in CF.

The fact is that right now we need a striker of Hulk's calibre as a result of the disorganization we've had in the CF position.

So if he's gona cost 40mill, well Torres surely wasn't worth 50 mill - (Carroll ).....i say just buy him.

He would not be a go to guy like he was at Porto. Mata and Hazard would be the main ball handlers for Chelsea and while Hulk would get plenty of touches, there's a big difference in taking 2-3 shots a game and taking 6 or 7 which nobody on Chelsea would be able to do. Also, you say that if someone had Hulk's scoring rate, he should shoot? Well, Sturridge actually had a better scoring rate last season despite playing out of position. (7 of Hulks goals came via penalties). Sturridge had 11 goals in 28 games, many of them as a midfielder. Hulk had 9 non-penalty goals in 26 games.
