guys lets look at this like this. haven`t the club been making shrewd sensible decisions lately?

i think they have for a while now.

I have to agree man. Bar the Lukaku signing, our board has signed extremely well-balanced, cohesive players that have fit into our team's mold. Mata and Hazard are the two most expensive signings from the last three windows, and they have been nothing short of brilliant. If the board make a "big" deadline day signing, I have faith that it will probably be a player that we can expect to fill some role that Robbie can foresee a need for.

Personally, I don't think Schurrle will be that player. We already brought in Moses, a right-sided, technically skilled winger. We have Sturridge and Ramires who can also play on the right, even if they are squares to that circle.

most of our AMs esp marin and Oscar but also hazard and mata can play on either right wing, anyway Schürrle is rather a left sided attacker, as his strengths are his shooting, finishing and cutting in with pace. Don't want him too, but if Roman does... I am actually quite sure we will sign a player on deadlin day, but it could also be one for the reserve/yoth team

@, i hope so, but even if he doesn't leave (studge) the chances he will get will be limited.

dont want schurrle, if we were to sign him then why sign moses? yeah schurrle is a striker but he can also play on wing, so where does he fit if we buy him being that we have moses?

We'll be playing about 60 games this season, I don't see how Sturridge won't get his chances, Even if we buy another striker today.

@Amels, enough to keep him happy? what happens if say Studge goes on a tear scoring many goals, you think you're gona bench him because of every striker has to play certain number of games?? no, it just hampers their growth.

If Sturridge is on form, he plays. If Torres is on form, he plays. Simple as that. The times of the Maloudas and Anelkas playing despite being poor are over, this is a new era. Danny isn't stupid, he'll know that he has to take his chances and prove Robbie that he's the man upfront. Some goes for the rest: Everyone has to fight for his place in the team.

Theres a differnce between surplus and sompetiton. And scburrle is just a surplus if we keep studge aswell.

I don't think so. It is possible to play like this (or any variation):

Torres

Schurrle - Mata - Sturridge

Disregard Marin and Moses?

No, no, no! I was just simply showing a hypothetical formation where both Schurrle and Sturridge are playing together.

  • I did not say I wanted this formation.
  • I did not say that Marin and Moses are to be disregarded.
  • You forgot Hazard.

Schurrle is probably better than Sturridge so is an upgrade for the backup striker role

Just a concern bringing in a 20 mill striker to be the #2 is what happens to Lukaku next summer?

Lukaku would've challenged Sturridge for the backup role next summer, but having another 20 mill man on a long new contract creates more potential future headaches

Schurrle is certainly an upgrade on Danny, Schurrle is much more of a team player and someone who is alot more capable of some nice link up play between our creative midfielders, himself and Torres ect. He would be a great addition to the team so i just hope we can sign him!

If Danny wasn't already on the books I would be 100% for the signing of Schurrle or Rémy but right it is a bit of a luxury signing. I feel Schurrle is the better player, but to have both is a tad greedy/silly.

I dont want him...

Why settle for second best - keep Torres + Sturridge and then get either:

Falcao

Cavanni

Llorente

In the Jan window or next summer...

Keep filling up our squad with 'could be's / wannabee's ' - we'll end up in 6th place... We need good youngsters and some proven talent....
