Dont need defenders, even if Carvalho and Ferreira leave we still dont need defenders, we have Mancienne, Bruma, Hutchinson and Van Aanhalt plus Bosingwa coming back to add to Terry, Alex, Ivanovic, Ashley and Zhirkov. I think our defence was a bit leaky last season only because I dont think our midfield was as strong, I would rather we sign one or two quality midfielders and a Right Sided attacking player and we will be unstoppable, (Aguero, ozil and Schweinsteiger would be my choices alternatively Silva, Van Der Vaart and Yaya Toure or Javi Martinez

I wouldn't put your money on that statement, if we're going for a defender of any sort we need someone who's going to be the shadow for Carvalho, who's 32. Terry isn't getting any older either so a decent defender would be a good idea.

I would however, prefer Simon Kjaer over Luiz.

For a defender to sit behind Terry, Alex and Ivanovic we have Bruma, Hutchinson, Mancienne, Rajkovic......... and thats assuming we let Carvalho go, if we keep Carvalho then even less need to sign a centre back

I thought RICKI would leave but not sure now ...My worry is if Bos will recover ,,,slightly off thread but mentioned on another ,,,keeping the fans informed ,,would like to see a statement regarding progress from injuries .. Bos of course but Mikel and Ess as well

I think each player gives us something different, Ivanovic is world class but lets not forget how good Bosingwa is either, remeber how he marked Messi out the game in the Champions League semi final? Remeber his bombing runs forward and his balls into the box and his pace?

ok, lets say this guys... Ivanovic and Bosingwa.. are both awesome players and have differant qualities about them, but nonetheless they are both fantastic foootballers, i don't think its fair to really compare them tbh.

I agree! I think Ivanovic is a fantastic crosser of the ball, he enjoys getting down the flank, and he's very quick at doing that! And he performed really well for us at right back while Bos has been out.

Ivanovic has been solid at Right back, and with Bosingwa and Hutchinson i don't we need anymore cover for the Right side. Nor with the left with Zhirkov, Ashley and Van Aanholt as well as possiblity from Bertrand.

We don't need anymore defenders, when and if Carvalho goes then we have Bruma and Mancienne and Cork who would fight for the role.

Youngsters from Chelsea is better then bringing someone who would take a large amount of money from the club with a stupid wage and not be played.

Bosingwa is a better full back then ivo and he gives us a lot lot more going forward, he is like a winger, the balance is really good with ash down the other full back position.

Don't get me wrong I love Ivanovic he's one of my favourite players, but he's not a better crosser than Bosingwa, Bosingwa is a better attacking full back by a long distance!

i dont really know why are you discussing this !!!!!!! the difference between bos and ivan is very clear and obviousto anyone ....

ivanovic is a better defender and bosingwa is a better attacker ... ivanovic is stronge and tougher but bosingwa is faster and more skillful .... we will be using bosingwa against small teams when we need to attack and when we need balance we probably will use ivanovic in big games .......
