It is to great concern to us the defending line, hopefully for us Tymoshchuk will put a great display, Buyten is higly unlikely to show up. And the middle is without a defensive role now that Gustavo misses too, a key miss more important than Badstuber.

Read this topic thread Effenberg and see what you think? Do you think the Bayern board may consider such a proposal?

Maybe except Alaba, I think Gustavo and Badstuber were rightly shown yellow card. But the system is indeed flawed. A final should allow the teams in their full strenght.

It is probably that Bayern will request such thing after they tried to do with Ribery in 2009 and Beckenbauer fighting for players not to be injured in national teams. However, even if UEFA decided to do such change, it couldn't come in effect in the currently played year.

Powerful picture. Jose kneeling on the ground watching before Schweinsteiger puts away the winner.

My commiserations, Jose. Going out on penalties is just so harsh, especially for a man who has been denied so many times on penalties. Better luck next year.

One thing we have not considered is that if the final goes to penalties, we are well and truly fucked. Germans don't miss penalties. Also, did anyone from Bayern get booked?

No chance. Adidas teams always use the new kit in the last the game of the season.

Last time in Moscow 2008, few of the chelsea players including Ballack asked to play in the current kit rather than the new kit for luck. We all know what happened there

Barcelona also had a lot of defensive problems after 2009 UCL final.

They just lost Abidal, and Daniel Alves, then Yaya Touré had to play as a CB, while Puyol was at RB, and Sylvinho started as a LB.

Its funny to read the article because they almost say it would be impossible to Barcelona's defence to stop Ronaldo and Rooney. Barcelona were the underdogs that night.

Its an one game final, I do believe we can win it.

Cech; Bonsingwa, Cahill, Luiz, Cole; Mikel, Essien (Romeu), Lampard, Mata; Drogba (Torres), Sturridge (Kalou).

With no Ramires, I think we need someone really fast to run deep into Bayern defense, thats why I would start Sturridge instead Torres or Didier.

No way should Daniel Andre Sturridge be even included in the matchday squad, Didier will bully the fuck out of that enormous boat Daniel van Buyten. They've lost Badstuber, their central defence will be wank and will lack both pace and power. Torres is more than quick enough as well if he's going to be up against van Buyten.

Unless they do a Barcelona 2009 and defy those odds we've got a 3-0 win on our hands. The only defensive problem we have is Bosingwa v Robben, Gomez is rubbish and won't pose a threat at all for Cahill and Luiz, but we can get away with that by hoping Robben and Ribery still want to kill each other.

Gomez is probably the most overrated striker in the world, he's happy to knock in a dozen goals against Alemannia Aachen or whatever, then do absolutely bugger all on the big occasions. He's also incredibly slow for such a prolific striker. I can genuinely see us keeping a clean sheet.

Each set of fans get 17,500 seats, that's only half the stadium capacity I think. Disgusting

I dont think its disgusting. The local people should have the chance to watch the final. whats the point of having a final is in Istambul if the stadium would be full of english and italian fans?

50% for the fans of each team, 50% for everyone who want to enjoy the game.

That has nothing to do with my post, why bring it up? And its not bullshit. I bet my soul, and my testicles that Mario Gomez will have an utter, utter, utter shocker in the final. He just doesn't turn up when needed to, remember South Africa? That he scored in the first leg is immaterial, I have never been so convinced of anything in football.

Now the only problem we have is keeping Drogba fresh. I'd say keep him for the Liverpool games and Newcastle, and let Torres play the rest of the time. Those that have been suspended should play every single game that we have left, at the expense of perhaps Lampard and Mata to keep them fresh as well.
