We should refuse to take part in the channel 5 cup, or at least play the u21/reserve team.

yeah i agree,, what a shame that would be to go from UCL Winners to the Euro-shit league. play the reserves, for once! they said Leugue cup was going to be used for reserves but umm i doubt it being as to how we're almost at the end and only have arsenal left as real contenders.

But not only is it a shame, we have the EPL to worry about and at this rate (or maybe its just or November curse) we will be battling fuckin Arsenal and Tottenham for 3rd and 4th. i vow to never watch a single europa league game that CFC takes part in.

you get the drift,, i mean sitting there watching Europa league after what we accomplished just one year ago would leave such a bad taste.

I suggest you look at the quality of the teams that will in there ....We had years of no European football ... The Europa league still has great quality.

We mocked it because we didnt have to be in it ... Who won it last year ??????????

Playing in the Europa league isnt all that bad, at least we'll be able to throw in some of the youngsters (Piazon, Bamford, Clifford) and see whether they are good enough.

We all said that about the carling cup/capital one cup or whatever the fuck it's called now..

And look what happened.

yeah some quality teams will be in there but no-where in comparision to the UCL, which we have held as a measuring stick since Roman's arrival. but not even just us but all major sides strive for the UCL and crashing out before the knock-out stages would say quite some bit as to where we stand as a club at this moment in time.

also, the fact we mocked it shows theirs a certain stigma to being attached to the Europa league. would be hypocritical (of me) to laugh at Spurs being in it then sort of turn the other cheek and brush it off if we were to fall into the Europa league. which was why i reacted the way i did.

and then when you see sides like Newcastle even resting players and playing reserves it kind of says a lot about how its viewed as a fuck-all tournament. (and you could argue newcastle have a small squad and can't afford to play their big stars in it but there are countless examples of clubs (even bigger ones) that just view this as a second class tournament.)

but we still got one game left, so hopefully we wont need to talk about Europa anytime soon.

What do you mean, look what happened?

We're still in the competition.

"Look what happened" = i.e.. playing a 'more or less' full strength team against United's reserves.

Read back your post, then mine... how have you managed to get confused here.

Real football, Real Fans

The weekend has generated mixed feelings in world football. Serbia had one of the greatest classics of the planet, between Red Star and Partizan Belgrade, with another show protagonized by the two fans. In Brazil, the relegation of Palmeiras stirred the emotions of many people, evoking childhood memories and some challenging fidelity. For Romania there was also a demonstration of unconditional love.

The FC Politehnica Timisoara, founded in 1921 and twice runner up Romanian (2008/09 and 2010/11), officially ended its activities in September this year, on account of the many debts accumulated this decade. On more than one occasion, after being demoted by the league in 2011, failed to obtain a license to permanently close the doors and leave a legion of fans orphan.

Abandoned, dumped, but never depressed, "former Politehnica" began to roam the streets of Timisoara looking for a new club. Ok, there was not this drama, but they really were behind a new team to cheer. There were two possibilities: the ACS Recas, who moved to town and was renamed ACS Timisoara and Politehnica Timisoara ASU, founded precisely for fans of the late club, but two years earlier. The second option won.

Thus, the ASU Politehnica Timisoara now has one of the biggest supporters of Romania. The "problem" is that the club is only in the fifth division, a regional league ... But even in a tiny stadium, new team treated fans to show their passion for truth. In the end, still celebrated the victory by 4-1 against AS Nadrag.

I did not know whetre to post it, but it is just something to remind us, in this difficult time, why we love football.
