I know it was a few pages back but i want to put my 2 pennies worth into the weed debate.

While the affect of it is over-emphasized by a lot of people to say it's good for you is ridiculous, one spliff alone might not kill you. I have a mate on pills for the foreseeable because smoking cannabis triggered his skitafrensia (however the fuck you spell it), he was messed up until he got his pills as another mate that had a seizure smoking it (eyes rolled to the back of his head and fitting on the floor), i haven't touched the shit since because im genuinely worried about the same happening to me. Since that moment he has been a paranoid wreak every time he has much as smell's weed.

So yes you may not be able to die by smoking a few spliff's one night, but the long term affects can make some people wish it did.

I think you mean schizophrenia?. There is no evidence weed could cause that for itself, but if you are predilect to have it (if you have familiars with schizophrenia) maybe weed can "accelerate" the process (and this is still in discussion). If weed really lead to schizophrenia we would have a lot of people sick by now, people didnt start smoke weed today.

You let another person's 'personal' genetic defect effect 'you'..

Like seeing someone having an allergic reaction to peanuts, and not eating peanuts yourself because of it.

It's weird how uneducated people are about marijuana...

And equally weird how bullish those who are educated about it can be. Talk about being defensive!

I'm totally ambivalent towards it. It is a person's own right to smoke marijuana should they wish it. As for the legalities, I see nothing wrong with personal, recreational use. Selling it should remain illegal, however.

The health debate is an ambiguous one as no-one can really determine the short- and long-term effects of weed. And as I am no medical expert, nor shall I pretend to be one, I won't post graphs from Google or quotes from Wikipedia that "explain" the results of smoking weed.

Caffeine & Alcohol kill people, In 10,000 years of known use of marijuana there has never been a single death attributed to it. Why would you want to stop people buying it safely like in Holland, why would you prefer people to buy it through illegal channels?

I come from an area where there's a lot of 'crime' attributed to selling and moving marijuana. It's kind of counteractive to say you don't see anything wrong with recreational use but then prohibit people from selling it.. How else do they get it?

Thankfully the world is opening up and realising everything that's negatively been attributed to marijuana is inaccurate. Places like California have made it legal for medical usage1, unsurprisingly it's reduced the number of 'dealers' around. Even in the States now, to get arrested carrying it only comes with a warning and fine for regular 'offenders'.

Don't need to be a medical expert to do research ;-) - I suggest researching 'hemp oil' to begin :)

Precisely.

BlueLion sees nothing wrong with personal & recreational marijuana use. Yet wants us to get hold of it through dealers illegally lmao, rather than a nice shop so it can be safely regulated, like in the netherlands.

To be honest, i'll only have 1 real what you could say an 'addiction' and that's Chelsea FC because whether i want to admit it or not, Chelsea runs my life and determines what i do, where i go and when and how i do things. It determines what i buy, what holidays i book off work, when to sneak out of work early, what to wear, why to get drunk, why to cry, when to shout, when to argue, when to come here on TC and find out the team and write about them and when to feel like the happiest or the most pissed off person in the world. It determines my mood and it determines whether i stay out or stay in. An addiction is something that you can't get out of, that's in there and will stay in there forever, Chelsea is in my heart and my blood and it will drive me insane forever and a day but that's the way i like it and i wouldn't change that for the world. You get those night's where like any other night, you can only sit there and watch. It makes me feel like saying 'Why should i care, i'm not playing for them or earning their money, it's not gonna make any real difference to my life' but i feel something there, almost like i am playing, the way my blood boils and my heart races and my sweat runs off my head and down my cheek. It makes me feel that i really am one of them, i am feeling the way they feel, i'm sweating as much as them, i'm as happy as them and i'm celebrating like them. I cry when we lose a big game, just like them, i cry emotionally when we win a huge game just like them like against Barca when Torres finished them off in style, not the referee blowing the whistle but a goal to make em feel even worse before the referee blows the whistle, like a dagger through the heart of the most dangerous enemy around. That makes me feel amazing even tho technically it's done absolutely nothing for my life.

The players always say that they are nothing without us and when i see the fight they showed in the Nou Camp with 10 men and the fight at Loftus Road with 9 men, it does make me realise that these millionaires are doing whatever they can not just for them, but for us as well and if they are doing it for us, that means that we are making a difference and that we are there and when we get behind them, not fucking boo them but actually stick with them, they perform for us and they make us happy.

The most hardcore smoker, drug addict, gambler, drinker, sex addict etc etc can give up with necessary equipment and will and desire and help but the hardcore football fans can never give up on their team because when you think it's all gone shit and your love seems to be fading (us vs Arsenal and Liverpool at home), they come back and defy all the odds (FA Cup and UCL finalists) against everyones believe and expectations. You could never give up that feeling we all had 4 days ago in the Nou Camp because that feeling is still with us now, it isn't a pack of 20 at £7.49 which'll last a day or 10 pints at £3.15 each that will last the night and make you feel shit in the morning and regretful, or a nice win at the bookies before you spunk it all by this time next week. This feeling you get like the one against Bolton in '05 or Liverpool in '08 or Tottenham in the cup a couple of weeks ago or Barca a couple of days ago.... That feeling is priceless and lasts forever. Just like Chelsea, once it's in, it stays in til the day we all die and there's absolutely fuck all we or anyone else can do about it.

It can also control our obsessions. I'm obsessed with seeing Chelsea be the best, ruling England, then ruling Europe, then ruling the world. I've always wanted Chelsea to win the UCL and now after what happened between 2004/2009, i am obsessed with us winning the Uefa Champions League. It's not a thing about saying 'wow, we're in the semi finals, great achievement'... NO not now! It's now quite simply 'ok we're in the UCL Semi, 2 more to go, we have to win it!'

Also if is regulated we can prevent kids to buy it.Today is easier for the kids buy weed than alcohol (dealer doesnt care about their age, he only wants the money).

Yeah, but can other countries pull it off like the Netherlands? I know for a fact it would be taxed to hell and back in Australia and it would end up costing people like four times more.

Well said, protection never works, and in the case of something as popular as weed, it creates a great revenue stream for organised crime. It's Prohibition Era USA all over again, except on a global scale.
