Kevin de Bruyne

When are people going to admit it was a mistake to not give this guy a much better chance at earning his place? Because it's pretty obvious. He barely played and when he did was at the right wing.

If you were in his shoes, out of form, not given a fair chance to gain your spot, your manager barely even talked to you and with a World Cup to play after the season, wouldn't you ask to leave? Calling it crying is beyond stupid IMO

Fast forward a couple of years and I'd say it's pretty obvious who regrets the move the most. And it's definitely not Kevin.

First half of 13/14 him and Mata should have swapped roles in the squads.

Mata was never in Joses plans, but the politics with the fan affection for Juan forced his hand in giving Mata more games than he might have otherwise.

And unfortunately it turns out we kept the worst of the three. Shame really, I thought Oscar would've developed much better than he has.

Yes Mata was the number 10 and he changed him for Oscar.

Now where is his number 10?

He picked Oscar because he can track back and all that stuff as to compare to Mata.

I now believe what most people say that if Mourinho had Messi when he was young he would never flourished because he can't track back.

That's the problem in having a manager like Mourinho.

But hey that's what everyone wants so it's all cool.

No point in moaning about KDB because Mourinho cannot have a lot of creative players in this team, just one and everyone else a workhorse.

Messi has played under Pep, who is more demanding with his players off the ball than Jose.

The ironic thing is the one he did bring into the first team, a number of people were waiting for a mistake so they could aggressively demand Cechs return.

If KDB stayed, every bad game (or at best a few subpar games in a row) bring back Mata would be the main topic of convo on this thread.

That was an anomaly with Mourinho tbh. One of the only good decisions he probably has made in the handling of a young player in his management career

What's the difference with De Bruyne's case? Both he and Mata were ultimately ditched because they apparently didn't work hard enough. And regarding Mata, I don't think Mourinho even played him once in the No.10 position - his best position. Had he done that, he might have actually realized how good he is, wouldn't have sold him AND we wouldn't look like headless chickens in the final third.

Aye but the difference is that Pep prefers creative players, Mourinho just workhorse.

But hey that's what you and the club wants so what's the point in getting annoyed with KDB?

We all know Mourinho sucks with youth and especially when it comes to creative players.

So it's not surprising this happen and it will continue to happen with Mourinho in the club.

So Fabregas is a workhorse?

I'm a bit confused now....

this is what absolutely baffles me.

to sell mata and have oscar as his no.10 and then try to fill the creative void with cesc as a midfielder.

hopeless decisions and massive mistakes. i mean wanting your deep players to create and your no.10 to defend. one of the funniest decisions i have seen anyon make.

Well may be if Dr Bruyne got the minutes Mata got (he got a lot despite the myth otherwise) may have been different.

And Mata has been a shadow of his best self for nearly 3 years, I hardly imagine he will be the difference between us being toothless going forward and creating loads of chances, in fact United fans critisised his end product last season.

Pep may prefer creative players but don't let that fool you into thinking he will accommodate a player that is useless of the ball.

His Barca team was built on Hard work and pressing.

Maybe if De Bruyne/Mata had gotten the minutes Oscar got, things would have turned out differently...

There is that but then again, you conveniently left out the part where he hasn't been playing in his best position for years. Having seen what he can do in that position for us, you would be lying to say that he wouldn't do better as the No.10 than Oscar, Willian and even Hazard.
