I guess it's racist cus we can't refer to them as that now.

Africans were widely called Negros untill 70s And it wasn't considered offensive atall. Americans were and are still called yanks or Yankees. No one takes offensce.

Negro was ne'er an offensive word untill civil rights movement. Aragones was 67 when he said that to Reyes. My grand parents called Africans Negros when I was a kid and they meant no harm cus they grew up refering to blacks as Negros. Infact some old blacks would rather take offense if you called them black and instead would be ok with the word Negro because of the era they grew up in.. Aragones has grown up calling Africans Negros which wasn't an offensive word back then. Our generation on the other hand has grown up to not calling the blacks as Negros. It is a Latin word after all not an abuse. It comes from the Latin word niger.

There is a philanthropic organization called United Negro College Fund in the US. I guess they should be banned or sued or bombed. How dare can they use that word.

infact in 60s Calling black a black was considered most offensive and racist and hence people refereed to them as Negros. Now Negro is offensive and hence we mist call them black.

Wonder what are we gonna call them in couple of decades.

How about not referring to them, or any body else, by any word that reflects the color of their skin, or for that matter, their ethnicity, beliefs or any other thing that inspires prejudice preconceptions and intolerance.

Just what we needed. I find myself embarrassed to support this club sometimes - because of the actions of the players players. Of course, I'll back Terry until he is potentially proven guilty, but then I'll need a rain check. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable have a racist adulterer leading our team out every week. I just hope, for the sake of the club, the fans and the image of the Chelsea brand that he didn't say what he was alleged to have said...

I can't believe people today are treating the whole racism issue in such a frivolous manner. This was such a serious issue in the past century, that bringing trivial incidents like this to the fore is an insult to to people in the past who had to actually suffer mental and physical trauma when trying to stamp out racism from society.

I bet if Martin Luther King were alive and heard of this incident and the uproar it has generated, he would just shake his head....

This really has nothing to do with the cause..its just plain sensationalism..

True, their ancestors bore the full brunt of racism and these black millionaire footballers roaming in fancy sports cars and living plush life all of a sudden start playing victims of racism just because a south american who speaks latin calls him a negro which in latin is black and is a word that was used by martin Luther King in his speeches and the other apparently is disturbed because the England captain apparently called him a fucking black a word that was advocated by Malcom X. If only they weren't such pussies and had acted like men....

I was speaking to an Indian guy today at the my work place. And he told me that after 911, during one of his mid terms, he and another white guy got the same answer wrong but the professor deducted 20 marks for the wrong answer while the white guy only had 5 marks deducted for getting the same answer wrong. All he told me was I could have raised the issue about being discriminated because of the race but instead I decided to work my ass off and not give the dickhead an opportunity to deduct any marks on my final. He got an A+ in his final.

This is a Joke....If JT gets punished, Anton's had it from fans specially JT fans. May not be in the stadium but he will be subjected racist comments on streets or twitter or FB. Because he made a big issue out of it. Had he just ignored it, and given JT benefit of the doubt things would have been just normal for everyone.

Karma has come back to bite JT on the ass. His previous actions have made him public enemy number one & if he's a racist or not (which I still strongly believe he isn't) the media and our rivals will say he's guilty anyway.

Maybe just maybe he should of kept it in his pants.

I agree. We played the 'innocent till proven guilty' card throughout this entire process. Now that it seems he'll be proved guilty, perspectives will be changed.

There is no way I or most other people can tell if he'd actually said something racist to Ferdinand. I never thought the lipreading video was enough for people to go about claiming he's racist, but at the same time, what Adam Phillip and some of the other players said about him doesn't really tell me much about what happened either, although it's good to see them back their captain. Maybe Adam's right in that JT isn't racist, but he could've just blurted it in anger.

In any case, if he turns out to be guilty, there is no doubt he should be punished. Racist remarks like that shouldn't be tolerated anywhere on this planet. And this is a more personal thing, but if it proves to be true, he'll let everyone except the journalists down, and he should give up both England and Chelsea armbands. He already made one huge mistake as the face of this club but still was given a second chance. I appreciate his commitment to the team, but it turns out he actually said it, he will be an embarrassment more than anything else, and I will not back him.

But having said that, I don't believe this was something they should've taken to the court. I don't live in UK, and I don't know what things are like there, but to me, this is something the FA and the club should take care of, because even if he had said something racist to Ferdinand, it most likely would've been of frustration rather than of malice. If he'd just called him a 'cunt,' people wouldn't even be talking about it, and I don't think the fact that he called him a 'black cunt' should make a world of difference and turn this into something the court should be involved in especially when this happened during an exchange of angry words in a heated football match. It wasn't like he'd beat the crap out of Ferdinand like Gerrard did that DJ a couple years ago or like he'd insulted him in public. Like I said, I don't condone racism and will be more than just disappointed at Terry if he proves guilty, but people are making a ridiculously huge fuss about this, and that's not right.

Eventually, truth is not what actually happened but what is believed had happened. It doesn't matter if he didn't say it if the court finds him guilty. He could have never said the word "black" in his life and still be a racist.

Exactly mate, as a black person it makes me feel like shit if i'm honest with you. The thought of probably my favorite Chelsea player ever saying this just turns my stomach. John Terry does not think before he opens his mouth and i think its because of his parents, if you listen to the way his father puts his point across you will understand what i mean. The signs where there in 2001 when he drunkenly laughed at American tourists after 9/11. He is just low class with a lot of money and fame. I will support him but he just keeps putting his foot in it every season with a new fuck up and it just angers me. I just wish he had class like Frank Lampard. I have to keep explaining to my younger brother that its all allegations at the moment but what can i say to him when he gets found out which is inevitable now because the police want to charge him. What am i supposed to say to my 11 year old brother who has John Terry merchandise all over his bedroom, its demoralizing.

I would like to clarify for the record that i do not believe John Terry is a racist, i think that is clear, i just think he is a bit silly. He is derailing season after season after season with his stupidity and you cant blame it on the media because with all John Terry seasonal fuck ups you quickly realize that there is no smoke without fire. He has expierenced bad parenting in my opinion, with his father on video saying ''YEAH YEAH AD LAVE TO SEA MY FACKING SAN PULL ON THE FACKING WESTHAAAAAM SHIRT YH YH FACKING FACKING''.
