I wonder why they decided to take action just now, those sites have been up and known for years, hosting illegal content (taking down file hosting sites is a safe bet, you can be 99,9% sure that it holds illegal material). I do have a feeling it's got something to do with the SOPA thing, showing that they are not helpless without it and they are ready to take action, trying to show authority and setting an example/warning for others. Oh well, 2 sites down, 4 will emerge instead. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend, there are plenty of other hosting sites around. It's probably best if they moved their servers out of USA though.

Try living in China... you want to worry about censorship ... I've got y'all beat

On the other hand name a movie still in the theaters and I bet I can but the DVD!

Saw some DVDs in Turkey -and then the films were released in the cinema in the UK three months later <_<

NOOOO NOT FILESERVE DAMN IT I JUST BROUGHT A PREMIUM ACCOUNT FOR A YEAR FFS..

Can you get a refund?

Unlucky, Steve :( I have a premium account with them too but luckily it was about to run out in two weeks. I got it two months back and originally thought of getting a one year membership too but thought better be safe and try it out first.

I highly doubt that they'll give a refund unfortunately :( but if you paid for it using Paypal you better go and cancel future payments.

Edit: Some people have apparently managed to get refunds. They used the resolution center in Paypal and filed a claim

R.I.P. Fileserve and Megaupload. We had some grea time.

cunts...

edit: Fileserve still works for me.

Filserve site is still on but a lot of links have been taking down.

Fileserve is just deleting a lot of stuff

I know most of the cappers that put football match in that server will not be putting it there in the near future, unless something change.

PS. It looks like Filesonic has also fallen.

"All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Our service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally."

If you ask me the one true safe server right now is Rapidshare, cause their servers are located outside of the US. It looks like we are going to have to go old school! B)
