Thanks LAM09,

The fact that I don't even really know what areas of the pitch Pogba likes to occupy tells you how much I watch him. When I read your comment though it tempted me to seek out an all touches video of his performance yesterday and I found the one below. (Skip past the first 45 seconds which contain the usual waste of time, close up shots.)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lfcm5wu_kw

Is this representative of the performance you saw? I ask because there aren't all that many touches which makes me wonder if it's edited. It also doesn't include any defensive contributions he made. Not great information to base an opinion on but, since it's all I've got...

Based on the touches we do see, I have to say I'm surprised by your comment. I see evidence of a talented and confident player who produced two or there impressive involvements but there is also evidence of play that would frustrate the heck out of me if he was wearing a Chelsea shirt.

Rather as I accuse Ruben Loftus-Cheek of doing at times, there are things in that display which are more about trying to look good than they are about being effective. For example, there's the passage from about 2:46 where he does that pointless little drag of his, gives a simple pass, gets it back, dawdles on it and is dispossessed.

There were good things too but nothing more than I think we're entitled to expect from a top level player.

He's 21.

He's already one of the best box to box midfielders in the world. His skill level on the pitch has matured faster than his footballing brain but that doesn't impede him from being a beast on the pitch.

What is the plan with Pogba?

Pay 80M for a midfielder that plays at the position of Fabregas or maybe Matic? The only midfield position that can be improved is the AM position of Oscar. I would rather focus on that and a world class centre back, because Cahill is not good enough.

Perhaps the amounts of money that the reports speak of the final price of Paul Pogba are very high, but Pogba has all the capabilities to be the best player in the world in the next decade. Have him be a key signing.

Regarding the possibilities of Pogba to place him in our starting eleven, these possibilities are many. Pogba can play alongside Ramires and in the position of N. 10. and also as a winger (not Pure winger) on both sides as midfielder to the left or right side.

I think Pogba would give us all these possibilities.

Option 1.

Pogba Matic

Cuadrado/Messi :D Fabregas Hazard

Diego Costa

Option 2.

Cuadrado Matic Pogba

Fabregas

Diego Costa Hazard

Option 3. (As backup of Fabregas).

Ramires Matic

Cuadrado Pogba Hazard

Diego Costa

Option 4. (As backup of Matic, the most dificult for him).

Ramires Pogba

Cuadrado Fabregas Hazard

Diego Costa

Furthermore, I believe that the future of Varane and Pogba are united (together, no Manchester :D ), they are the best friends of each other. Today published L`Equipe that Varane has requested an urgent meeting with the directors of Real Madrid to ask his move for the few minutes he is playing (besides Real Madrid is crazy about David Luiz).

Regards to ALL.

What aspect of his game do you find overrated and what midfielder would you rather have in his price range

I've seen him play a few times - and perhaps it's because I'm paying special attention to him and therefore judging him more harshly - but I'm never blown away.

His passing isn't all that great but he's athletic and shoots well. Is that really worth 60-80m?

One problem is that he lacks discipline and not exactly the best defensively. Passing and shooting is very good though. Don't think that can justify 80m, banging in 3-4 from 30-40 yards even though is quite good, is not worth it.

To answer your question. No He's not worth that price range However I can also see why He's most people's fantasy/number one CM target because He's already one of the best midfielder and still only 21 and in addition to that offers genuine goal threat and physicality in the middle of the pack. Players like Pogba are a rarity i,e physically dominant players with very good technique.

But I can also see your point, for that price, one would expect a genuine orchestra that can control games (something we genuinely lack especially in big games) with a combination of defensive prowess and creativity. that's why I prefer Koke to him. The Spaniard is more well rounded and Atleti will find it hard to turn down 70 odd million for him.

Koke is a genuine world-class talent already.

You can al see the importance of a player like POgba when you see how Manchester CIty plays without Yaya Toure.Toure is the best player in the League.

There are no players in the world this tall, fast, strong and with this quality with the ball. But not only this... he can pay DM, CM and even CAM or even on the wings.

Pogba should be the number 1 target imo.

His phsyical presence just fits perfectly with the team and his technical ability is fantastic.

But, Pogba won't come to Chelsea, just like marco reus. These guys want to play for the big dogs aka madrid or barcelona. With the decline of xavi and iniesta, barca are going to have a few openings soon.

For starters, the video has since been removed, so I can't dissect it and give my impressions.

He is CM who can produce moments of magic on a regular basis, which is rare in modern football. I personally think he would be an ideal partner for Matic in the center of midfield, but only at the right price (£45m max).

Overrated

He's a vine / youtube footballer

I used to watch Serie A when it was the world's top league in the 90s and I watched Sanchez a few times when he was linked with us before moving to Spain. Other than that I've never watched Italian football so all I know about Pogba is what I've seen on YouTube. I therefore like to read the views of people like you and @LAM09 who have obviously seen proper coverage of this bloke.

LAM09 has told us a bit about why he thinks Pogba should be on our shopping list but it would be interesting to know more about why you say the Juve midfielder is overrated.

B/c often when I watch him he'll do nothing for large portions of the game, do a fancy trick and everyone will praise his "great" performance off of that one move.

People say he's as good as Yaya. He's not.

Well, I have to say that's the impression I get from watching his YouTube videos but it's obviously a bit foolish to base too much on those so I can't be definitive about my opinion.

Most people praise him on his overall performances. He's scored 6 goals in 19, which is decent for a CM. I'm not sure if you watch him on a consistent basis, but I do.

People need to remember that not only is he probably among the best three CM in the World (IMO), but he would count as HQ as well. There is no one around that is HQ and anywhere near as good as him.

Yeah he's v gd. Especially for his age, there's no way I'd class him in the top 3 CM in the world though. Nor would I pay the said prices previously quoted for him. (60-80m)
