His experience. Mourinho used him to mark Lampard. Ake may be able to play as DM but lacks the know-how and playing him is more risky against someone as experienced as Lampard.

The funny thing is that Cahill did not look that good and I really doubt that Ake could have done worse than Cahill,considering the fact that Ake´s reaction is much better and Ake is good on the ball,which is very important,when you are playing as a DM.Cahill is not that great on the ball and his reaction time used to be better,so Ake would have made much more sense

And Mourinho picked Zouma against City because he was our fastest defender. Doubt he would drop him now with Villa having some speed merchants of their own, even if they are average.

Doesn't look like it to me on evidence. Is this another myth and generalisation that young automatically equals tactically naive and inferior. Hasn't that myth been busted already. He has looked just tactically fine to me in the games he has played for us while on the flip side Cahill, a player that has been awful to average at best this season is being played completely out of position.

Hes been out of the team for maybe 2 or 3 games and people think that's him as good as done at Chelsea? Wake up, Zouma is a young guy who will eventually make mistakes because hes playing for a top top team as a center back. He might get a run in the team but there's no doubt Cahill-Terry are gonna be Jose's first choice and most used combination this season at center back.
