Stats 7,142
Some of the comments after one loss really piss me off sometimes. He is not a world class defender and Aguero got past him a couple times, but he would have easily done the same to Terry, who is much slower and has been exposed to fast players many times. I am not going to say Cahill was brilliant but he made some vital interceptions, headed away many crosses and if it was not for him we could have conceded more. Look at his overall performance and the blocks he made. He was at least one I would say played decent today.

Backstreet09 499
LOL @ all the comments like he's not good enough and all ^^^^Ehmahgerd , he totally outclassed and owned aguero XD . If it wasn't for him we would had lost something like 6-0 . What were ya'all saying he's not good enough lol ? He's fricking WORLDCLASS
JDY 1,290
It's not just this one loss, it's over the whole season. I'm not talking about Aguero going past him, he can do that to anyone. But Cahill is constantly caught out of position, yet it goes under the radar most of the time. Stick any forward with decent movement against him and they will have a field day.In a deep line with no space in behind he is great, because he's a gritty defender. The difference between him JT is that Terry can read the game, Cahill can't. If you thought he was good today then that really shows how shocking we were. nadavTKL
The only place to be 11,313
He's a good player who was bought for a good price and will be a great 3rd choice centre-back for us. Peace. and Mufassir08

Jase 43,479
Funny how people say just because Cahill tends to make last ditch challenges, it's all his fault because he was caught out of position etc. Yes, sometimes it is. Sometimes it's not. There are situations where he had to run back to prevent someone from scoring if we get caught out playing a high line OR because someone in the defence messed things up and he needed to cover them. He's a covering defender, not a CB like Luiz who takes the initiative and tackle opponents early on.Thing with Cahill is when it comes to making challenges, blocking shots, making interceptions, winning headers etc, he is good at it. Only problem with him is the inconsistency in terms of his concentration and positioning at times. That's the frustration with him. It's this small little and basic mistakes that he commits when you least expect it. He's only 27 y/o and might not be a world class defender in the end but he can be a really good defender if he improves on the few aspects mentioned. I have no qualms with him being 3rd choice, but if we really want to start challenging he shouldn't be first choice.
CHOULO19 24,332
Superman form from him today. Was at times defending for both himself and the nonchalant Luiz. He only made two minor mistakes all game which considering the City pressure is pretty good. This is what Garry has the ability to do, unfortunately he is extremely error making him very unlikely to go through many games with as little mistakes as he did today. BlueLion. 21,491
He had a good game on Sunday but that doesn't disguise the fact he's been poor recently. However I do like his attitude, his honesty and his commitment to the cause. When he is at his absolute best he is good enough to be a regular starting centre-back for this club in my honest opinion. However when you consider he is essentially a replacement for Alex when he signed in January 2012, you have to ask yourself; who would you rather have in your side? A fully-fit and on-form Alex, or a fully-fit and on-form Cahill? As much as I like Cahill, I would chose Alex.

Alex has been below average every single match I've seen of him this season (which are admittedly not much). But when Alex was Garry's age, I completely agree that he was a better CB. BlueLion. 21,491
I watch more Ligue Un football than most French people do! He hasn't been particularly spectacular on occasions, but then neither has Cahill. Alex can be quite inconsistent, but when he is good, he is superb.I just think we replaced a player you'd rate 7/10 most games with a player you'd rate 6/10 in most matches. YouNameIt 1,511
Despite all his critics, from a statistical perspective Cahill's the best CB in the EPL.That is the worst and most retarded thing I have ever heared. Cahill isnt even close to being the best CB in the EPL. And he's had errors that led to goals.Looking at statistics like that doesnt say anything. Maybe a player made 2 own goals in a meaningless match. Maybe he was also the reason goals were leaked in another meaningless match. etc etc etc
