DH1988 1,348
I feel sorry for Cahill having to play CB and RB all the time, I really do. This. Please direct all negative comments toward the Branislav thread.
CHOULO19 24,332
To be fair, he actually had a decent game after 2-3 mistakes early in the first half. Thought he had a good second half. didierforever and pHaRaOn
DH1988 1,348
The amount of abuse Cahill gets and Branislav is shielded from amazes me.Not Cahill's biggest fan and see him leaving next Jan once we buy Varane but still, good player. Cahill is just all roun bad. Both should be dropped for zouma and azpi respectively ,but getting Cahill out will probably come first .I wonder if we will see the right defence this season

CurlyHairLikeLuiz 1,625
Feel sorry for the geezer. Has to play central right back and then when he has to back off because he can't cover so much ground he gets completely slaughtered for it. Yeah, he's not the best centre half Terry has partnered (surely Ricky) but he's not shite either. If Dave played next to him I guarantee he would look so much more solid.Zouma does well there because of his pace and impeccable timing/technique of the tackle, and that'll be the cross on which Cahill will be crucified. And rightly - if Zouma is better in the role he should be played there. iseah100
Blue Colored Sky 1,807
What's with his contract ? Nothing have been reported for months. He was supposedly going to sign the one in the last season but that topic is dead.I feel that he's off in the summer when Chelsea buy new CB. He can still fetch nice sum for the clubs that are desperate to have "Premier League proven" defender in order to stay up in the Premier League and put their hands on this new TV money bonanza. In Cahill's case, he can still be a decent squad player and not to mention, he fills the HG quota that we're desperately lacking. We're now with 6 senior defenders yet Zouma and Filipe number of minutes isn't impressive. So if 5th and 6th option are playing only a chunk of minutes the 7th option will have even worse situation. He can stay, he can go, but situation will be very similar with both outputs.2) He can still fetch nice sum I can imagine. So let's think that he offset half of the cost of Clyne. It's a very good thought.3) HG situation isn't bad. You get rid of Cahill and give RLC a full time membership. Also we probably gonna sign an English goalkeeper in the place of Cech so actually the number of HG players will be increased.

Not to mention, if we go far in competitions next season, we'll need players as Mourinho is likely to rotate. Blue Colored Sky

He's earned his place back.defended well in the air. but earned his place back? i dont think so , was decent against stoke but bad against hull and southampton. zouma did nothing to lose his place and performed against much better attackers, (aguero , sterling , kane) , unless he is required for midfield, zouma could come back in. i wouldnt trust cahill against utd's attackers. and zouma will make the team more proactive and get higher up the pitch, instead of worrying about utd the whole time, and making our defence look terrified when they come into our half. It'll stop us getting muscled out of midfield. If Remy is unavailable then we can put Oscar in midfield and use Cesc how Spain use him as a false 9.
