Anyway, it seems contradictory for those backing Lampard's decision to have the rationale 'he won't play many games' and 'he aspires to be at the top level' while also knowing where he'll be 6 months from now. It's crystal clear that these were the terms of signing for NYC in the first place. I severely doubt they were the only ones in line to pay him top dollar...but he chose them anyway. That is why people are reacting the way they are.

I personally believe that he'll play a fair few games which keeps him in Hodgson's mind going forward especially with Gerrard and Cole having retired.

As for hiring a personal trainer, it's not the same as the competitive environment of a club. Again, these are arguments that are being brought up which are simply not realistic and require a slight willing ignorance to entertain.

I would think that he chose City because he wants to stay close to his family since he is a human being with a life beyond football.

There's a difference between between well-known and wealthy in New York from almost anywhere else on Earth. It's the media capital of the world and a massive potential market for football (as well as Lampard's missus who works in the media). Melbourne is a fine, cosmopolitan city from what I understand, but it's not New York and there's really no argument against that.

This whole discussion is feeling a little silly to be honest so I'm going to end it there before you say anything else.

He's a football player who wants to stay fit, he's done way too much for us and asking him not to play at all for 6 whole months isn't what he deserves.
