Non-Chelsea Transfer Pub

Yeah a lot of people really are getting too scared of FFP, if we wanted to, we could easily blow the bank, easy.

However, the club have been working very hard, especially since the Torres transfer to rid themselves of a free-spending side. The mood has changed where clubs no longer demand us to pay the transfer fee in cash all upfront and we've finally shed 'The Chelsea Price' which saw us spend 5-10M more on every transfer because clubs knew we could afford it. Our wage structureis top notch, and 100k/pw is no longer the norm for every player. And we no longer dole out heft bonuses for every little win in Europe/domestically.

Just browsing some English papers, what's with the hype surrounding Depay? He's a talent alright but he's being portrayed as better than Ronaldo at the same age etc which is just bollocks.

Suppose it's because it's United that got him?

tbf he is an amazing signing for them. One of the most complete wingers I have seen a player be at this age. Pace, power, strength, stamina, skills, dribbling, shooting. He is the most talented Dutch player of their next generation. LvG knows exactly how to utilise him to great effect. That being said I don't believe he will be the player to close the between us and them.

Depay might become a very good player, but he is yet to prove it at a much better league. Reminds you all about Van Ginkel, he is once one of the best prospect in Eredivise and Holland. And no, I don't think he will be better than Ronaldo. Ronaldo and Messi are on different universe. How many times we heard that this player the next Ronaldo, that player the next Messi, German Messi, Egyptian Messi? No one will even close.

we got no history's "conservative" estimates are sometimes way off.

i think last season they predicted that chelsea would get a profit of 20mil without luiz inclusion. they were way off the estimates. i would take that with a pinch of salt.

If we're gonna sign another CB, if I may choose I will prefer Godin than Varane. Godin is more experienced and I don't think he will moan if being benched and also will cost much less than Varane. Godin and Terry against team with fast attackers. Cahill and Terry against slowly ones. Zouma to play in cup games.

Again, I think we should sign Varane only when JT has retired.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3067893/Jose-Mourinho-plans-persuade-Roman-Abramovich-spend-big-summer-turn-Chelsea-European-champions.html

so a new GK, a new LB, a new CB, a new AM/CM and a new ST.

hmmm..

if we do do that, then

ins -

HG 2nd GK - 5mil

LB - well we had a perfect backup LB who we sold for 10mil. are there defensively solid left backs out there? lets say (15mil)

CB - varane (30mil)

CM - koke (45mil)

ST - lacazzete (20mil)

total ~ 115mil

outs -

cech - 10mil

luis - 10mil

moses - 7mil

salah - 10mil

atsu - 3mil

GC - 10mil

mikel - 5mil

mvg - 5mil

romeu - 3mil

piazon - 3mil

remy - 8mil

other "loanees" (kakuta, josh, kalas) - 6mil

total ~ 80mil

net spend of 35mil.

squad

GK - courtois, 2nd GK, blackman(HG)

Defenders - JT, Varane, Zouma, Iva, Azpi, LB, ?,?

CM - matic, cesc, rambo,RLC

AM - hazard, koke, willian, oscar, cuadrado

ST - costa, lacazette, bamford

addresses our high line problem, squad strength issues.

In Netherlands they see him as the next big talent. We haven't brought worldclass Dutch talents since the golden 4: Van Persie, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Arjen Robben. So it's been like 13 years now.

In the mean time Netherlands brought people abroad like John (Benfica flop), Babel (Liverpool flop), Drenthe (Madrid flop).

But he's clearly more talented than those, so a little bit exaggeration/hope is normal.

Last season he was a big talent and had some great moments at the worldcup. This season he lead PSV to their first title since 2007-08, scoring 20+ goals.

Regarding Van Ginkel, he was really unlucky to be injured. Probably not world class, but has the potential to be a very decent player for a sub top team.

Not sure if he can be the next Robben, but surely has the potential to shine at United.

The last part.

If it was us then it's a big risk.

I imagine it must be hard for you guys from Holland, one side want to see him succeeded as a player, but another side don't want to see MU succeeded next season, lol.

I'm sorry to say, but I think he still has a lot to prove, before we can make any judgement on him better than CR. I have seen a WC talents flopped in PL before. Lamela, KDB...

And one more thing, the manager will play a big part in Depay development. And I'm not sure LVG stubborn approach and method is the best for him at this stage.
