I was just going to say that I will be gone for the next few weeks while we travels but in light of few of the recent posts I think I will be taking a break from the forum. I need a break from the blatant anti-American sentiment that has become worse recently.

I hope everyone enjoys the holiday season regardless of how you choose to celebrate and may the new year bring you peace and joy in your life.

I dont think its anti Americanism passe. I have met some of the friendliest people in the US, picked up Vietnam veterans who were hitchiking, retired people driving round their US in their MPVs -including Woodrow Wilsons grandaughter, hispanics in LA and obviously Blues Chick here

Its more like a condemnation of foreign policies, not just the US but UK as well.

It's wrong to blame the citizens for the choices of their government, we all know all governments will use any rhetoric to get into power and then make such anti-humanitarian decisions. I hold no grudges with the American people, just the American government.

Anti-American sentiment... Yes it does exist here, I find myself constantly defending my home country, not that I don't see both sides of the argument. No, I don't always agree with my government but I believe you need to look at things from every angle and you need to realize that the Americans here do actual find some of the crap you bandy about offensive. I am not my government and blatant statements about "America" or "Americans" aren't accurate! The US is huge and "normal" Americans don't get elected, especially when you consider the fact that our votes are only to determine the "electoral college". Until you understand our politics fully please do not attack the "average American" and don't assume we all agree.
