LDN Blue 7,903
Messi is the best player in the world in my opinion, he is likable, humble and not a little girl who moans and play acts like Ronaldo for example. That's unfair. Ronaldo has matured a lot under Mourinho this season, he's cut that out of his game a lot now and is looking like someone ready to be a future captain. Ronaldo, for me, is not far off Messi's level. He may not score as many goals, but because he's usually deployed as a winger, Ronaldo gives the same level of contribution to the team as Messi does. But the matches i watched of Real Madrid this season Ronaldo is not just a winger he is aloud to just drift anywhere. Also Ronaldo is really selfish, he shots not stop, but Messi likes to pass and is not that selfish. I think Messi is much better than Ronaldo, but that's just down to opinion. Every time Ronaldo and Messi play against each other, Messi comes out looking better. Ronaldo might score, but Messi has more impact on the game. I'm not bashing Ronaldo because i do think he is the second best player in the world right now, but i just think Messi is in a different class to anyone. LDN Blue 7,903
Thats not entirely true, Messi has got some amazing talent. He is a perfect example of someone using his potential to the fullest though i m scared to say that there is more of him to come. Not many are born with talent like him.I'm of personal belief that this kind of talent is something one isn't born with. It's something that's developed. I'm sure Messi was kicking a ball from a very young age & his interest of it was encouraged by people around him. The skills he possesses are ones that have been practised for 23 years & nurtured in a very prestigious academy. That's why I believe there can be more Messi's out there if they dedicate themselves to a practice, practice, practice. It's the only way to perfect football skills. Unfortunately with the amount of money now involved in the sport it's not easy to see why many have deviated and why the future quality is dropping. I believe he's placed a burden on his own shoulders to carry this Madrid team. I think the burden of his transfer fee plays also on his mind & hence he's trying very hard not to let the likes of Peréz down. In doing that he's become slightly selfish & is determined to score more than anyone. Now that Higuain's back as the premier striker & more quality like Sahin coming in, I think he will start relaxing a bit more and start playing for the team a lot more. Mourinho is nurturing Ronaldo and giving him that strict, disciplined coaching that Ferguson didn't use because he liked the young, cocky Ronaldo. Milan 17,956
Top 10 goals? Top 20 goals? Forget about that! Here is a video showing his top 70 goals at his age, not bad

True_Blue 469
He is the best player in the World but on his position.I find it laughable when they say he is the best in the World since how can you compare him to a goalkeeper or a defender? That is why i am very much against the Ballon d'Or since it doesn't really appreciate other players, only the most popular and the one who get all the headlines get the awards. Even the "team of the year" is a joke. Fifa made Carlos Puyol left-back in their team of the year..
Carefree Tom 7
Is Lionel Messi the best player that has ever graced a football pitch? For the past 5 years, you hear the name Messi mentioned several times a season. If it's not something spectacular he's done in La Liga, it's something which we witness in the CL. At the age of 23, he is already a legend in his own rights... and just think about what he could achieve in the next 10 years. But can he really be as good as, or even better, than the legendary names of the past 50 years? i.e. Pele, Maradona, Best, Cruyff etc.
