LDN Blue 7,903
His work was really cut out for him yesterday, given a very hard job of trying to contain Rooney. He did well.. Considering.
Bear-Felix 16
have to admit I was one of the really pissed off ones when we got Meireles instead of Modric but he's been a solid buy.
BlueLion. 21,491
A very astute signing indeed. I was instantly excited by bringing Raul in, I'd always liked him but I thought that excitement was born out of frustration we'd missed out on Modric and de Bruyne. Either way, he's been superb. BlueLion. 21,491
We're unbeaten when Raul's played the full 90, outscoring opponents 13-3 in the process...

Term-X 7,891
The worst moment of the season for me wasn't when we lost to Arsenal, or the humiliating defeats to Liverpool. It was the last hours of the transfer window, when Spurs rejected a £40m bid for Modric (AVB's number 1 transfer target). The player we had been chasing the entire summer, and for the deal to collapse in the final hours. In a panic move, the club signed an average 28 year old fringe player not fit to tie Modric’s boots. The board adopted a small club mentality and settled for what was merely available.
francozola 2,040
Harsh on Meireles because he wasn't signed as a "replacement" for Modric. He is a good squad player to have. But yes, I agree that we should have had more plans in case the Modric deal did not work out. We should not have pursued him til the final day and should have given up during the last week and put in a few bids on other players. Sheva. 5,373
We would be in an even worse position if we didn't "settle" for Raul.In terms of Lampard starting every game and there being no adequate cover for him and Rambo.

He is a decent player IMO yesterday vs Wigan was his worse game in a Chelsea shirt.

I could understand if he had performed as bad as someone like Torres has but he's been one of our most consistent performers this season. I guess this shows the attitude of certain fans at the club if this is your worst moment of the season. It seems some players just can't do anything right because they aren't bought for a ridiculous price. Spoilt fans. Would you rather the club not sign anyone and we're left in a bad position as we havnt got enough players in midfield? I'm glad we "settled for what was merely available" cause for me he has been a good signing & a useful player.
