🇧🇪 Romelu Lukaku

Torres and Luiz were not signed by Emenalo. They were signed in Jan 2011. Emenalo took over in June 2011. So the whole premise of your post (which mainly seems to be critiquing the signing of Torres which is fair but he wasn't signed under Emenalo to begin with) is sort of invalid. Emenalo has done a fine job considering we didn't have a solid manager to work with for most of those years. It's obviously changed now with Mourinho though, and they've together in general done very well so far in the three transfer windows in which they've been working together.

When Mourinho came back he praise the board for the work they had done. ie KDB, Lukaku, Courtois and such.

Later he was also saying how he was working well with Emanolo.

So it as you said, Emanolo who many hated at the beginning for his past started doing a good job and with Mourinho it's only gotten better.

This just show that having good and competent people as our staff is very vital.

Not just one person in Mourinho, but in other levels of structures working together as a unit.

Don't be. We have lost far better players who actually did stuff in a Chelsea shirt.

My abiding memory of Lukaku will be watching him fail to control the ball in the World Cup.

He was not the finished article but a 21yr old with real potential. Torres has done SO much damage to the blues...

Sturridge was excellent for Liverpool last year, but you've got to be kidding yourself if you don't think Suarez was the main reason Liverpool almost won the title.

main- yes. but like i said - danny played a MASSIVE part. simply cant ignore that. which just says how wrong the board were then, and this seems to be a bigger mistake!!!

Meh. I think Sturridge was a bigger mistake than Lukaku, I don't even view the Lukaku sale as a mistake to be honest because it's best for all parties involved. Romelu doesn't want to stay, Mourinho doesn't want him, Everton are in need of a striker and we get a decent fee. It's fine.

Romelu Lukaku isn't the only young striker talent out there. It's not a really big deal for me because he hasn't done anything for us and tbh, will only realise his potential at a club like Everton where he is given constant adoration by his coach and where he is the undisputed number 1 striker. He won't have that here.

I agree the squad has been unbalanced but then again, as I said you have to take into consideration that we didn't have a solid manager to work with back then. We always had temporary, caretaker managers or managers who got sacked very quickly, so in that respect I personally admire the job Emenalo has done. You can see that now we actually have a real manager and a real blueprint to follow... The squad is finally very balanced.

Man City is incomparable because they had managerial stability with Mancini being there for almost 3 years.

Most of the great business Bergenstain did was after Mancini was sacked and before Pellegrini was hired.

Anyway, don't get me wrong, I like Emenalo a lot. I think he's a young, talented guy with an eye for spotting talent but he let his inexperience show with the indiscriminate signing of AM's and not adressing the ageing squad problem quicker (a problem I feel caused Ancelotti his job). It's not all his fault though as Chelsea is a mad-house. Also, he has an experienced manager in Mourinho to split hairs with as opposed to AVB and Di Matteo.

I agree, Torres was huge mistake but we can't get rid of him. Lukaku's potential is overrated however, sure he can get better, but I personally believe he is already operating at a level not far from his maximum. How much better can he really get? His touch, control and technique don't have much scope for improvement.

Not sure how he's concluded that it means Torres won't be leaving... Wouldn't take that as a fact yet tbh. We still need to sell a foreign player.

We will never go into the new season with just 2 established strikers so that sort of makes sense. However if we are planning to buy another striker Torres could go

After some people on here thought I was being offensive and disrespectful for saying I'm "over" Mata's departure, I'll state in advance I'll make no apologies for the following statement:

Anyone else not really bothered that he's going? He's played for Chelsea about ten times, his attitude stinks (can't seem to deal with the competition) and every time I've watched him play for Everton he's mainly looked sloppy and lazy, and his inconsistent performances are papered over by a half-decent goalscoring return.

£25 million to go and spend on someone who won't moan their way out of the club. José clearly doesn't think he's good enough for Chelsea, and I have to agree with him, personally.

If that offends you then I can recommend a good cure for butthurt, but I have literally no emotional attachment to the player whatsoever. Sorry guys, but I'm siding with TSO's judgement here.

Mata was a good player, well he still is and we miss him. But now we got Fabregas so it's all good

Lukaku I always felt he was the new Heskey.

So 25 million for the new Heskey is a good business from our club. :Goober:

Hmm, not so sure. City basically signed their spine under Mancini in Aguero, Silva, Yaya Toure and Zabaleta. Added that with great squad options like Milner, Nasri, Dzeko. Most of their first team XI players and squad now we're signed under Mancini and Txiki bar say Fernandinho. He did make some excellent signings last year though, but he had the advantage of having a clear spine in the team to work with and build around.

I dont really care about Lukaku anymore. I lost my respect for the kid tbh.

Give us that money and I will be okay - it would mean that we would have spent close to Nothing this summer after the sales of Luiz, Ba and Lukaku. That's close to 80m pounds going our way and Costa, Luis and Cesc was about 80m in total.

So... We could buy Pogba if we wanted to. Easy.
