I found it funny earlier when someone on Facebook tried to tell me the shop I was standing in was on fire. Now, either she was lying, or my attention to detail isn't what it once was.

Check yourself for injuries you could be seriously hurt

You're not the sharpest knife Alex ;)

Lack of understanding over these riots.. Sigh..

Yup. What you sow, you reap- we didn’t build prison-like estates, set the dole at a subsistance levels, cut EMA, or spoon feed youth with bullshit celebrity dreams and psychotic computer games and ‘torture porn’ movies, we don’t humiliate kids on the streets and slap them about as if they were colonial subjects, like the old bill…

An entire generation, nationally, has been chucked on the shit-heap, dispossessed. The language used against them is redolent of the nazis-’scum’, ‘feral rats’- people talk of calling out the army, why, so they can cut off black kids fingers as trophies like in Afghanistan ? Light up entire families with SA80s? Lets have a ‘Syrian Solution’? Bollocks!

oh heck where to begin! You realize where I live right??

I'll start with drivers and their in ability to think of anyone else!! I watch them stop traffic so a guy could pull out of his housing complex and prevent an AMBULANCE from getting thru! There is no right away given to emergency vehicles here!! God for bid I ever have to be taken to the hospital for an emergency, I will put myself in the hands of our driver before I go in an ambulance!

The situation is a difficult one though. Containment no longer seems an option, so is dispersal the next point of call?

Containment would be a very very short term measure in my view., and the rioters disperse themselves anyway It's like Chelsea losing to Barca in the CL semis and saying ''shall we change the decor at Cobham?''

There are problems in this country deep rooted and difficult and they don’t go away if we do nothing. They certainly don’t go away when we erode what little we are hanging on to … We have to be bigger than the media and violence. We have turned our back on enlightenment. It can’t be about fuck all anymore it has to be about something. We have to recognise the wider reasoning behind this awful situation. We have to invest in all our people and in all our futures

A quick glance at the history books will reveal that rioters are always heavily condemned as ‘criminals’ (in this country poorer kids were considered criminals long before the events of August 2011) and somehow less than human, but slowly a pattern of inequity, voicelessness and a lack of hope emerges. Sometimes this leads to positive change…

You know I always found Chinese women to be the worst drivers on earth. Even in US they drive like they drive in China. You being in China I can only pity you. That said, it's the same situation in India and other Asian countries. People have died in Ambulances cus of the traffic. Fuck right away to fire engines of ambulances.

Welcome to Asia

Thanks! Thankfully I get to leave the driving up to someone else and he is very good at his job! I won't say I am never startled or scared but he always seems to be aware of it all that is going on around us and we stay safe! It is weird to always sit in the back seat and to know that I won't be driving for three years!! I am sure I will get used to it because I have no desire to stress myself out completely by driving here!!

I am amazed by the lack of accidents here, but then again with the laws the way they are and the stiff penalties... I guess I am not. But they push the limit to the very edge. The problem in the US is that no one learned to drive in the same area they live so you have a mix of driving styles (most that are awful) all in one place!! And no one seems to understand that the other people don't understand their "driving style" LOL

I also feel people don't understand the difference between understanding and justifying. What we're saying is the primary.

You can't complain about Asian drivers until you're involved in a free-for-all with cyclists in central London! :P

Or the cyclists in edinburgh

Worse though

Fucking london cabbies that think they are driving a 800 ton Nuclear airplane engined Battering ram. that drive like you dont exist

Thats true. Your nice avatar of Malcolm - he also said '' By Any Means Neccesary'''

Most people in the US and here in Britain in the 1960s would have gladly lynched Mr X and his UK equivalent Mr Stokely, never mind being understood or justified but is now romanticised on T shirts/posters etc)

Martin Luther King said ''A Riot is the Voice of the Unheard''

What made me angry Grrrr!

Case Study One: Gerald Kaufman MP fraudulently claimed £750 for a Bang and Olufsen television on his parliamentary expenses. He was not prosecuted but asked to repay the £750

Case Study Two: A young woman with no previous is alleged to have looted a Bang and Olufsen television from a store in Manchester. She was remanded in custody to crown court to get a sentence longer than 6 months

Kaufman could be seen in parliament yesterday demanding ROBUST action against rioters.

Gerald Kaufman, you are a common thief, worse than the people in recent days who stole luxury appliances, at least they did it openly, and probably came from a background of poverty, unlike yourself who is a multi millionaire. You stole from the public purse, furthermore, you were in a position of trust, and didn’t do it in the ‘heat of the moment’.You had time and resources to plan your theft so that it would not be discovered. Why aren’t YOU in the Dock now looking at 6 months in jail? %28N%29.gif%28N%29.gif%28N%29.gif Grrrrrrrrr

the one trick pony Tories using the same tactics they used in the `80`s... "devide and conquer the masses of the working class,by turning communities against each other." and so many working class people are falling for it.

they could have brought all the major cities in England to a standstill and made their point without setting fire to small family run businesses..without causing millions of damage that will have to be paid out of the government funding, meaning less chance of them getting back what they are claiming they done it for....

but more important than anything else, without the deaths of innocent people and screwing up the lives of those who loved them most and are left behind to try and get some degree of happiness in their lives that are now missing a vital part of it!

but to me it`s like the second Holyfield v Tyson fight..not many people saw that Holyfield was constantly using cheap shot tactics during that fight to wind Tyson up..but when Tyson finally exploded and bit a chunk out of Holyfield`s ear, the public turned on Tyson because of the disgusting act he did and people didn`t want to know about what Holyfield was doing to provoke it. ( i was cheering on Evander in those fights btw but after watching the fight again shortly afterwards)

what the youth should have done is sitdown protests around key buildings in London that the Government and any visiting foreign people of power.. use all foreign embassies based in London could be used too.

block their entrances to these buildings, cleary show what they are protesting against with placards and banners. errect tents outside previous stated places, get together and bring plenty of food and non-alcohol drinks (don`t take any booze,it will only play into the Tories hands with their D&C tactics in the media) and prepare themselves for the long haul..do this in a determined but peaceful manner. the MLK way. do not hinder the lives of the general public, just the real enemy!

test the patience of the Tories..poke them with the invisible stick and see how they react..they send in the big cops to forcefully move them on and the general public will turn on the Government instead of the youth like they have because they chose to act like animals instead.

most battles these days are won through winning the battle for "hearts and minds" of the general public....as soon as the first innocent people were murdered ,the youth had lost the hearts and minds and whatever they say now and for the forseable future,it is not gonna change what the majority of the general public think of them.

i`m for their cause but not their kind of "protest" it just totally played into the Tory hands and there`s probably more than a few of those smug blue Nazi bastards smiling to themselves as they pour themselves an all expenses fleeced, Cognac...thinking,not even her highness our beloved Mrs Thatcher pulled off the Tory trick so quickly.

they thought it`s been hard to find jobs before, there`s over a thousand atleast who are very likely to go and turn back to crime when they get out of prison.now because they couldn`t think things through properly this week and chose anarchy instead of protesting peacefully.

i wouldn`t send any of these rioters to normal prisons or young offenders ones...send them to the Glasshouse instead. where they won`t get raped by some of the current inmates, but they will have the bootcamp treatment and who knows,it might turn a few of them onto joining the army in the future. it would take the burden of where to house all of them off the regular prisons.
