I like him.

But he's very ill disciplined. Picked up the most number of yellow cards last season I believe

Yes, that's also true, but think how many clean tackles did Mikel make? He isn't so undisciplined that AVB couldn't hold him, same with David Luiz...

Yeah true.

But I don't know.. He's a great player, but I don't think we need him as such. I'd like to hear more opinions though from others about if he should be played over Mikel or with him ect.

And let's clear, Ramires isn't a CDM, his primary position is CM. We have just Mikel as CDM, even Essien isn't CDM. So we need this player not just as an Essien replacement, but also as a player who could add new dimension to our play. One CDM for a club at top level isn't too much, is it?

Chelsea have made an official enquiry to Newcastle over midfielder Cheik Tiote as they step up their search for a replacement for the injured Michael Essien.

Thanks for sharing this! I'm really happy, his value at TransferMarkt (http://www.transferm...eler_33478.html) is 5.000.000 €, I would rate him at 10.000.000 €, and Chelsea has offered 15.000.000 €. I think Newcastle will accept this offer, or ask for an offer included with any of our player. I think we will get him until Portsmouth game. emo4.gif

The Persistent search for Essien's replacement is, quite frankly, disrespectful to Ramires. Also the temporary replacement idea makes no sense because it will defy all laws of physics, if Essien, a 30 year old player, returns to his very best after suffering 3 serious knee injuries and it would be delusion of epic proportions for any fan or AVB to have such expectations.

Would rather play Ramieres as an AMC then a DMC, similiar to how Essien should be played.

Tieme is a DMC (if i remember rightly), and i wouldn't mind him coming, either him or Rodwell

Ramires' exact position is RCM and I don't see nothing disrespectful in buying player who doesn't play at your position, it could be disrespectful to Mikel, but in none way for Ramires.

I was clearly referring to the essien replacement fiasco being blown out of proportion by the media and some fans.why would the absence of a player who appears to have past his prime significantly affect the team? hence the relentless and desperate search for a replacement.especially when you already have an identical and worthy alternative in Ramires. seems very illogical to me

Ramires still has a place in the squad along side the DM. Since Ramires is box-to-box. However the DM issue is one that needs addressing if Mikel were to get injured or for some reason, Boas didn't see him as a good player.

Imo we need another young midfeilder and a creative midfeilder. Preferrably the young one should/could be a DMC, seeing as only Luiz and Mikel can play there if Essien is out. Like i said, i would rather have Ramires as an attacking midfeilder then a defensive one, his runs can be deadly (Man City goal). Rodwell would be the perfect candidate, has PL experience, is young and also been touted as English future star.

I'm lost here. Essien and ramires are both box to box midfielders and have always been deployed as such. the only exception was during Mikel's absence to injury. I don't get how the defensive midfield argument fits into the discourse.

I am sure Carlo used him or twice as a DMC

Maybe i was wrong, but still, we need a creative midfeilder and one young DMC midfielder.
