Wow! RT @SkySportsNews: SSN understand that Roman Abramovich has sacked AVB. Rafael Benitez will take over for the rest of the season.

I have to blame the board for not giving AVB more support...I think the team feels that their manager is close to getting the sack, and have thus lost a lot of their motivation. Why else would the performance levels (from everyone including Mata and Ramires) drop so drastically over two months?

That is one point of view, but very questionable. The way I see it, he did not have the reason to to trust in them. Given their age , their roles in the team, their capabilities and the most important their weaknesses.

Who can claim for sure he wanted this team in the first place? OK, he said he is happy, but what can he say? I have no funds to bring more suitable players? Lukaku was not his signing and probably not even Meireles (panic buy).

What I'm trying to say, these players stayed because the club could not say buy to them from one reason or another. Not because he believed in them, it was not his fault. In my opinion anyway.

One can blame him for taking this job under these difficult circumstances, but for not being active in transfer market? It's not all up to him. And he has shown interest for various players, but that is more less everything he can do, without support.

I entirely agree, he has tried hard to bring about change here. That can be seen with the pursuits of Modric, Perreira, Willian, Lucas, etc. I'm not apportioning blame for that.

The point i was trying to make was that he probably realizes now just how unprofessional some of these top name footballers are. He's 33 and it's his first really big job, he's worked here before and knows these players so chose to trust them with the objectives the club set out with. As the summer window came to a close though, the 40m bid for Modric demonstrated that he might have started to think he was a bit too trusting.

Spot on.

Any manager would struggle with these ageing players. people say play the young players , you try doing that with the ego's in this club. there are two ways Roman can go with this

1. Give AVB time ship out the old guard and bring fresh hungry players in (like Jose had).

2. Sack AVB bring in someone (who would want this job other than a big payoff) then let the old guard play on and down the table we slide.

Dino Ron and oldman Bruce coming out and supporting Andre and stating that players are the ones to blame would be the right move.

AVB needs to be assured that board still believes in him and to regain some confidence of his own. It's tough to lead a team when you're wondering do they want me here?

People wanted him to go crazy in the transfer market. It's really unfair to ask him to do that in his first year. The manager has to have a chance with the team he has, he needs time to work with them before he decides who can get out and who can stay. If he woulda told half the team to fuck off and we were doing bad then everyone would have been like why the fuck didnt he keep so and so. A manager who dismantles an entire team and the players in his first year is stupid, you need time to do that. That said he could have done something in the winter window, but we all know how hard to buy someone in that period is.

Anyways, I hope he stays, don't see how sacking him will help matters at all.

Dalglish looks on the bright side

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish tried to remain upbeat after seeing his side slip to a 2-1 defeat at home to Arsenal.

Gunners striker Robin van Persie scored twice, the second in added time, to snatch victory at Anfield in a game in which they had been outplayed by Liverpool for long periods.

In truth Arsenal could have been out of the game by half-time had goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny not made a great double save to deny Dirk Kuyt from the penalty spot before Laurent Koscielny's own goal put the hosts in front.

Despite seeing a sixth penalty of the season squandered, Dalglish said: "If you want to gauge it on points then it is a big disappointment but if you want to gauge it on performance I think they were fantastic.

"I think we are competitive all right. I think those stats tell you we are attack-minded and can create chances and get penalties - the next bit is to be ugly and get a winning goal.

"There was always some scepticism to us winning a trophy (Carling Cup) the week before and how they would react and respond and I think they showed that with the way they played. To come away without three points is disappointing. The performance was outstanding - if we get a bit of luck it will make a difference to us."

Why don't this forum and the board thinks like that?

Kenny got his team lower then us, but he should keep his job, while AVB should loose his job......

Kenny Daglish is a loved hero and greatest player of Liverpool's era. He is loved by fans as well as the board. He has vastly improved them compared to Roy....

Who the fuck is AVB to Chelsea? Mourinho's bitch assistant?
