Chinese New Year is officially today but celebrations started Saturday night and will go for the next 10 days or so (some websites will tell you 15 days). Last night there were fireworks being set off from about 10 pm until 2 am continuously and sporadically for about 8 hours before and have been going on sporadically since 2 am. it is the biggest celebration of the year in China and families gather together to celebrate. We were cautioned not to attempt to travel with in China during the New Year Holiday. Yes it is the year of the dragon this year and will be until next Chinese new year. The chinese zodiac is a yearly zodiac instead of a lunar (monthly) zodiac and it is a 12 year cycle. So if you were born in 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, 1952, etc. then you are a dragon. With in each zodiac sign there are 4 different types (water, fire, wood, earth). http://www.chinahighlights.com/travelguide/chinese-zodiac/ http://www.chinesezodiac.com Hope this helps, Wilson
