And to honour those who've died in conflicts since. It's just a shame that some couldn't keep quiet during the silence. I even noticed someone looking at their mobile, can't it wait?

Not the most enthralling of matches, but a win is a win. Sat in the Shed End Lower for the first time and yes it was a good atmosphere I thought. I wonder what Sir Alex's take was on the match? We are Top of the League Say We Are Top of the League. :blue scalf:

What a fucking idiot. Who'd have parents like this, first his mum now his dad.

I think there will be a minute's silence before Kickoff. We have to win today, there is no option to lose. We are on form. I would just love to see Ferguson's face and hear his excuses as to why his team has lost, that's if he can be bothered to stick around afterwards. Come on the Mighty Chels :blue scalf:

I was only mentioning about what's happened at Newcastle. Are you saying that someone else has posted about what happened there already? Samsumg Stadium sounds hideous. What happens when Samsung are no longer our sponsers?

I read this in the Metro earlier in the week - metro.co.uk about what's happening at Newcastle United and it made me laugh. Newcastle hit back as fans revolt over naming fiasco sportsdirect.com@ St James Park causes uproar Thursday, November 5, 2009 Newcastle fans are furious at the proposals Newcastle have defended their decision to rename St James' Park, claiming relegation from the Premier League has left them in a financial black hole and desperate for new investment. Toon fans are up in arms at underfire owner Mike Ashley's plan to rebrand the ground 'the sportsdirect@St James' Park stadium' to showcase naming rights to potential sponsors. 'The idea of turning the history of St James' Park into something that resembles an e-mail address absolutely beggars belief,' said Mark Jensen, editor of United fanzine The Mag. However, Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias explained: 'Basically, from £100million revenue, we have dropped to £50m. A good chunk of that is TV money from the Premier League, so from the Premier League, it's £40m. 'We get a parachute payment of £12.5m and then in the Championship itself, you get £2.4m of income. 'There's a massive void there that needs to be covered. You get a drop in your season tickets, you get a drop in your attendance, retail, it all drops. 'That shortfall needs to be made up. Mike [Ashley] is picking the shortfall up now and it's very, very difficult. But we are getting through it.' On the issue of stadium naming rights, Llambias added: 'With the renaming, whatever brand it was, it was always going to be "whatever brand it was St James' Park". 'So I can clear it up, for the remainder of this season, we already have sportsdirect.com on the Gallowgate, so we would like to take that branding through the rest of the stadium and on the outside where you see St James' now, we would like to have sportsdirect.com@St James' so it can showcase it to whoever is out there who wishes to buy the package.' Asked if the name 'St James' Park' would always remain amid an angry response from fans, Llambias replied: 'Absolutely. In our reign, absolutely. 'It's adding to it, and if it brings in a good chunk of money to the club, that goes straight to the team, then do you know what, it's a revenue we should look at.'

Another impressive display from the lads. I knew that they would pull something out of the bag and boy did they do that. I did find the first half a little frustrating and thought that we had opportunities to score prior to Lampard's penalty. I said to someone next to me that we wouldn't be disappointed in the second half. I thought Cech did some good saves and all credit to Lampard, Drogba and Deco for their goals. Thanks to Zat Night too for the own goal, nice one.
-
Exactly. Tbh, the way I see it is that every team that we play should be treated with caution. What happened at Wigan will be remembered for a long time to come.
-
I know you're right and looking at the last couple of away games, we definitely shouldn't have lost to Wigan. I think what happened at Aston Villa was sort of expected. We have won other games away (Sunderland, and Stoke). The team will be on a high and so will be motivated to do well on Saturday. It'll just mean that we'll all have to sing louder tomorrow

Yes he is an idiot and it shows that he can't control his feelings and temper towards women. He'll most probably be labled a sex offender for the rest of his life.
-
Well looking at the result on Wednesday why not? OK we won't be playing on home ground but we'll give as good as we can and as I say we have a strong enough team.
-
I think we can do better than that, 3-0 perhaps. Drogba, Anelka, Lampard to score, not necessarily in that order lol.

The Toughest Month Of The Season?

I think it takes place between January 10 till January 31, 2010. We musen't be complacent and treat every opposition as a trheat. OK, we've already beaten Hull, Sunderland this season, and hopefully we'll do it again. Birmingham I would have thought should be OK. We must be doing something right at the moment and just need to keep going with the same attitude for every game. I think Carlo must be working them hard and whatever it's certainly working. -

Footballer Marlon King has been jailed for 18 months for sexually assaulting a woman - and will be sacked by Premier League club Wigan Athletic as a result. The striker was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by the 20-year-old student in a bar in central London last December, Southwark Crown Court heard. He groped her and then punched her, leaving her with a broken nose. The father-of-three, from Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, had insisted it was a case of mistaken identity. The jury returned a 10-2 majority verdict, however, and King was convicted of sexually assaulting the woman and causing actual bodily harm. The assault happened at the Soho Revue Bar at a time when he was on loan with Hull City. King was celebrating two occasions - his wife's latest pregnancy and the scoring of a winning goal - with a night out in the West End. He was repeatedly "cold-shouldered" by women in the bar, the court heard. 'Gratuitous violence' Prosecution lawyer Roger Daniells-Smith said King had struck up a conversation with his victim by saying: "Don't you know who I am? I'm a millionaire." The court heard she replied: "I don't care who you are; take your millionaire self away from our table." He groped the woman and she told him: "Don't do that, it's not nice. Don't touch me." King was warned off her again but he continued to stroke the woman's hair and then told her she was not in his league, the court heard. After she pushed him in the chest, King lost his temper and a moment of "completely gratuitous violence" led to him "smashing" the victim to the floor, jurors were told. Two other people standing beside him were also knocked away as a result of the force of the blow he inflicted. Several witnesses testified that King was responsible, despite his denial. They included a football coach who insisted the 29-year-old Jamaican international was the assailant. Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan said King "was finished with football" at the club. "We will now be in the process of severing his contract," he told BBC Radio 5 live. "To say the least, I am really, really disappointed." Mr Whelan continued: "It's really upsetting and it just sets such a bad example for any youngster coming through who wants to be a professional footballer." In 2002 King served five months of a two-year prison sentence for handling a stolen car before being released on appeal. source - bbc.co.uk/sport

The Toughest Month Of The Season?

Looking at the way we've played for the last 3 games we can win these games I think. They'll be tough, but this should drive the squad to succeed. They've already proved that they can beat our closest rivals (Man U - Community Shield, Liverpool and Tottenham so far this season. Bring 'em on I say. We have a strong enough squad to get through these matches. Our encounter with Aresenal should be interesting. We've got Man City in December which also should be interesting. The toughest month of the season will be January with the African Cup imo. -
Another fantastic result. Great to see that we can cope without some of the regulars on the first team. I hope Hilario is OK? Off to Bolton away on Saturday and can't wait. Up the Chels :blue scalf:

I don't think it's on television, it'll be on Chelsea TV. Why don't you check out the TV /Pub guide that i posted in the So Bar Lounge, it tells you all the latest fixtures and whose showing them.
