  1. bring in David Dein as CEO Zola as assistant to Carlo rest of the board STOP plotting and meddling ..
  2. so many changes since I started watching ...for a start ,,,televised games ,,,even in colour ,,,first televised match I saw was Blackpool v Bolton .. ..watched in a darkened room on a 14inch black and white ... then came floodlights and evening games ,,,then colour Tv... teams kept the same strips for years ,,,no replica shirts ...fans wore scarves and rosettes,, little crowd violence except for the old firm ,,, ticket prices so low about the price of a loaf of bread..almost all fans stood on the terraces ,,, no substitutes or yellow and red cards ...players sent off were just told and pointed to the dressing rooms.. players numbered 2 to 11 ...keeper had no number and usually wore green jersey. games were just as competetive then as now ...domestic football and International games were of equal importance ....first friendly European games were a great novelty. The big difference I think in terms of competivity was that the leagues and cups werent completely dominated by 4 or 5 teams ...some of the top teams of the 40s and 50s are now in the lower leagues ... overall the passion was just as great ,,,but the game has moved on with the times ,,,as with all change ,,,some has been for the better but not all. the maximum wage and unbreakable contracts had players virtually as slaves . Bosman changed all that and now I believe excessive wages are a blot on the game .Greed has replaced loyalty .. The only true loyalty left is the loyalty of the fan.
  3. :goodpost: possibly the best argued post of the 1000 so far ....welldone
  4. the last time was when Fergie got toes sucked by that Yank :whistling:
  5. why bring Wenger into the discussion???
  6. We have still much to learn from the hated Manure ,,,, put trust in the Manager and let him decide on ALL football matters .. Seems the Glazers recognise that better than Roman . Of course they have more experience in running Sports clubs. We may even see the same with Scumpool.. worrying thought
  7. it was obvious it wasnt one of ours or it would have been front page news
  8. Can't believe Scumpool are'nt on EVERYONE'S list
  9. and to think we called Kenyon a prat ,,,compared to present board he was a genius ,,,at least he never interfered in football matters
  10. have given up hoping to see Jack play for us ,,,hope we get Danny back and Borini
  11. enjoy watching Spanish football..Italian league ,,,no thanks
  12. I have been making this point for weeks,,,board interference is what is wrong . when will Roman realise this
  13. Very spoilt ...I seem to remember when we were winning every game under Jose "fans" complaining that we werent attacking enough sitting back defending leads ,,, Children in a sweet shop .......
  14. exactly everything about his body language screamed "ive been caught lying"
  15. ignore Henriques ,,,,nothing is good if it isnt Brazillian according to him ,,,
  16. seems everyone can see what Roman can't ...changing managers every two years isnt the way to achieve long term success. He need only look at Man Utd to see that ...Personally I would stay with Carlo but he must be given more power and an assistant of HIS choosing

  18. what Carlo needs is a good assistant ..Wilkins was that .IMO Zola would be ideal but doubt if Roman would appoint him as he refused to go back on his word when he left us . Pity Roman seems to prefer "yes men" ..
  19. the money is a valid point ...especially if he starts less games
  20. I think there is still a place for Frank but no longer as an automatic starter ,,more time on the bench and used as a sub
  21. my biggedt disappointment this season was the fact we promoted 5 young players to the squad and I don't believe any were given enough playing time. Too late now for this season but I hope lessons have been learned and they are given more time next season , We have 5 England Under 21s and numerous others . Forget paying millions for young overseas players and give the ones we have a chance
