We need other players like Willian, Oscar, Salah and Schurrle to contribute but that doesn't mean that selling Mata was a mistake. If I'm going to regret any player going it would be De Bruyne but the Mata deal was good business long-term.
-
Nah, you're the one who came out and said you hope Man United destroys us the next time we play them. That's your agenda. I think he's a good player who simply didn't fit the system. Oscar still fits the system but simply needs to regain the form he was showing earlier in the season.
-
With Oscar we've still been defensively strong enough to pull out wins. I don't know what Mata would've done for us but whatever he might've given us going forward would've been negated by his lack of workrate when pressing the game. But there's always going to be a few who crawl out of the woodwork to say 'I told you so' and they'll be rubbing their hands with glee if we miss out on the title.

The Southampton game was on the January 1st. Since then how many league games has he been good in? Newcastle at home? Honestly, I don't hold out much hope that he's going to have another good game this season. I wouldn't bet on him scoring a goal between now and May, and I'm not sure if he'll even assist a goal. And then he's off to the World Cup. So this young man who had a great start to the season and then faded badly in the new year because he's being overplayed is going to have another summer filled with football and high expectation. When's he stop playing? When do we actually stop making excuses and judge him? When do we stop talking about Oscar in terms of the Juventus match or the Southampton match and talk about him purely in terms of his last match?
-
The Bosingwa one was like Willian's - shoulder to shoulder contact and it went against us. He was last man though so it actually became a red. Just think he's a bad ref who lets the game get away from him. A lot of those games were really frustrating ones for us with a really nasty edge to them, and it's a strange coincidence that he's at the centre of them. Nice article by Poll and I agree with him about Bennett being sent off.
-
Sealed the deal? Scored a goal in the dying minutes when the game was won is another way of putting it. Look I get it...Torres is bad (waaahhh!!!!) but Demba Ba isn't now good because of that. The guy is actually a weaker presence up front somehow and really doesn't warrant a start. All this stuff about being a model pro is completely nonsensical in my view. I remember him making a point of going to the gym and posting a picture of himself after Jose said he might be needed....um, why the fuck weren't you already in the gym?? Anyway, his goalscoring record might sound 'good' but if you actually look beyond the stats and actually examine the goals (you know, like we do with Torres and like we should've done before we signed him) then he's really not that good.
-
Goal every 100 minutes. Let's see. 83rd minute against Schalke when 2-0 up 90th minute against Southampton when 2-1 up 10th minute against Steaua, we win 1-0 88th and 89th minute against Spurs when 2-0 up and Spurs down to 10, errors from Sandro and Walker He's got more chance of eating the bacon than bringing it home.
-
So who exactly are these big names that the scousers and mancs have? Neville and Carragher? Do me a favour. Neville is about as fair-minded as you get. Hansen? Retiring at the end of the season. Last night MOTD went with Shearer and Savage. Honestly this whole thing Mourinho started is utter bollocks and you're just regurgitating it. Jesus wept.
-
One of the things Fergie was masterful at was getting refs off of his games. He did it with Oliver and Foy, and a couple of others if I remember correctly (Atkinson I think). Jose needs to make it clear that Foy has a bias against us and the stats for red cards support that. 6 reds in 8 games when he only averages around 1 red card every 10 PL games is a ridiculous statistic. A jump from around 1in 10 to 3 in 4 is beyond a joke and he simply can't be allowed to referee our games. That performance by him was a joke last night.
-
What, you want individual stories that are pro-Chelsea? How about I just tell you to look up some of Martin Samuel's articles on FFP and what a joke it is. How about Neil Ashton and a couple of other Mail writers who have written positively about our players, most recently John Terry. How about Henry Winter who has always been fair-minded. If you're sticking to the Custis's and even Ackfords of the world then I understand why you might think we've been harshly treated, but there's no grand conspiracy against us. The media LOVES Jose Mourinho. He gives them easy copy and great headlines. They treat him with kid gloves....just look at how many of them GUSHED over him after the City game at a Mourinho Masterclass. Literally, just google 'mourinho masterclass' and see how many media outlets you get praising him after the City game. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=mourinho+masterclass&oq=mourinho+masterclass&aqs=chrome..69i57.3127j0j1&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=119&ie=UTF-8#q=mourinho+masterclass&start=10 The reason that Liverpool have a lot of players in the media is because football on tv exploded in the 90s. Who were the big stars then?? Oh right, the recently retired stars of the 80s and 90s who were Liverpool and United players in the main. It's not fucking rocket science but if you want to get bent out of shape because Jody Fucking Morris doesn't have a tv show then you go right ahead. Please ignore Pat Nevin, Craig Burley (cunt), Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit, Michael Ballack, Franco Zola (did last night's game) and even old Cascarino who regularly get run-outs and even the positive discussion from the likes of Graeme Souness, Paul Merson and Matt Le Tissier. I'm not going to count up the decisions that we've had, but honestly this season I've felt like we've had more than our fair share of luck especially at home.
-
Mate, you're talking complete and utter bollocks. You know fuck all about the media in this country, you have no experience of the people that work in it yet you're talking as if you're an expert on it. Every club thinks there's an anti-us policy in the media. City fans think that the media is biased in favour of United. United fans think there's a fatwa against Moyes and Cleverley, Arsenal fans think that some have it in for Wenger. The 'football press' as you incorrectly put it is wildly diverse in it's quality and views and to throw around accusations of people being brainwashed by it is complete crap. We've played well in spots but we've also been quite lucky. If you can't see that then I don't know what to say. We were lucky to get that goal against Everton because we really didn't do enough to win that if we're being honest. Against Spurs we were poor, until individual mistakes undid them. Fulham away we started very slowly but we deserved to win that. But the simple fact is that we have glaring deficiencies in this team which is why the title talk was always very premature. We're a team in the process of being built so that's to be expected, and Foy was beyond awful yesterday but this season we've had more than our fair share of decisions go in our favour.
-
And you're not copying Jose?? We've had more than our fair share of luck this season. That doesn't excuse Foy's performance (he shouldn't ref one of our matches for a long time) but regurgitating the same stuff about there not being enough Chelsea voices in the media is utterly pointless. That result last night was coming. For far too many matches we've simply not done enough to win and relied on luck or decisions. Last night we didn't get the luck and we certainly didn't get the decisions, and we're not a good enough team to win without one of those.
-
It's almost like he's a young man who needs a bit of guidance in life. Is Jose incapable of that? I agree. But he's gone out on loan and scored more goals than our strikers, causing people to question Jose's judgment. I simply think Jose doesn't rate him and I think he'll be gone in the summer. Shame because I really like him.
-
Bizarre. Anyway, there's a story in the Mail that he's off in the summer and I can see that happening. Jose letting him go when we needed him was a strange one but maybe he simply doesn't rate him. Maybe he pissed him off when he left. I just can't help thinking that we would've been much better off with him in the squad this season.
-
I don't know if I agree, but at the end of the day the result is the same. If he was putting in the performances then maybe some of this stuff would be overlooked but he's not been doing that. If Jose persists with him then we're going to become a team that is unambitious on the pitch, looking to stifle matches and nick a winner one the counter or from an opposition mistake. Hopefully we'll look to get someone in that midfield who is more ambitious, more creative and we'll look to control games. Will be interesting to see just how many games he gets. Three games and he's a lucky boy.
-
The guy is the only thing going right up front for us at the moment, and once again he was the one looking to take control and make things happen. That shows how he's grown as a player this last year and it bodes well for the future, but he needs the people around him to do more. He needs the kinds of runs that Schurrle made against Fulham for him to play the ball forward and also to create space for him to work in. He ended up dropping deep in the second half to try and make things happen and it's so annoying to see a guy want to win so much and be surrounded by players who seem quite content just to watch and wait for him to save their balls.
-
When it comes down to it, the striker we needed last night wasn't Ba or Torres....it was Lukaku. Mourinho may well have cost us the league by acquiescing to his request to go on loan, and now there are reports that he might actually be sold at the end of the season. Granted we wouldn't be in the title race without Jose and the millions of pounds invested in the squad (how much credit does Michael Emenalo receive for the purchases of Hazard, Azpi, Matic, Cahill etc?) but we've got a player who would've been like a pig in shit against that high line of Villa's last night. Would Jose sell a player because he feels like he's embarrassed him?
-
It was a leg breaker, it was intentional, it was disgraceful. I don't know if he's a nasty player or if he's just reckless to the point of stupidity but it's not something you want to see Chelsea players doing. Maybe he'll stick around though. Maybe he is a Jose-type player. Maybe last night was the type of thing Jose wants from his players. Personally I'd like to see us go for a midfielder who has the defensive qualities we need but is also comfortable with the ball.
-
He's not being judged solely on his goals and assists, but on his attacking contribution to the team. No-one will fault his workrate but he just needs to offer more in the final third than cute little passes 3 feet away from Hazard and Oscar. The guy's transfer fee doesn't help either because it sets the expectations way too high.
-
Depends on how many goals he's scored, how much we need him, stuff like that. You're asking for my level of hypocrisy in a hypothetical.
-
Hypocritical definitely. You can be a cunt, but if you're a great player then supporters will overlook it. Ramires crime is being a cunt and not very good at football. If he was Xavi and did that then no-one would care. Hypocrisy, it's fantastic!
-
Sorry if I offended you, but I'm just being honest about what I see. I've defended Oscar, even up until the Fulham game but he's just showing a lack of quality on the ball. He's supposed to be a number 10, he's supposed to be a potential worldie yet he simply doesn't show enough class or composure when on the ball. He looks skittish, jittery and some of his touches are Torres-esque. Willian is a nice player, he works hard but his contribution to the team offensively is underwhelming. Maybe Hazard is setting the bar too high, but he needs to start chipping in more. Ramires....not good enough with the ball, inconsistent, dirty, loses his head and a low-iq (that's a polite way of saying stupid) player. Luiz....said enough about him. By the way I don't need you to tell me this team isn't ready. I've been saying that all season, that we're a work in progress and that we have glaring problems in the squad but when players take the piss I might reciprocate. I've given credit to the players who step up week-in and week-out but I don't think I've been unfair or over the top in criticising the ones who under-perform.
-
Playing hard and playing dirty are two different things. It's inexcusable. End of story.
-
The lack of quality he sometimes displays is shocking. Fantastic workrate and capable of linking up the play well but needs to show a lot more composure on the ball, find that killer pass more often and really start contributing to goals. Too many excuses thrown around to defend him, but next season he really needs to step it up. We can't keep relying on Hazard to perform.
-
At Villa Park last season. The guy is just so stupid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLg8GvMMa5k Come on. I know he's a Chelsea player but some things are just indefensible. It was a leg breaker and he meant it, which is why 3 games is the minimum. If a player did that to one of our players, we'd be screaming blue murder.
