But he's a big name mate. We need to go back to the old way of signing players because of their big names, just like Shevchenko and Torres. C'mon, won't you join me?
-
Every such argument gives me terrible Torres flashbacks...
-
Common sense tells me he will not drop his almost 300k salary to anything below that. It's irrelevant anyway. I don't think he's worth anything, so I'm not getting into pedantics with you.
-
We're going to be paying at least 150-200k a week for a third-choice striker? And a player of Falcao's supposed calibre is happy with being 3rd choice? Yeah, you're really winning me over!
-
It's not just that, it's about buying players with value - players in their prime, not players who have clearly left their best years behind them. I have never seen a player single-handedly rip apart Chelsea like Falcao did, but those days are long gone regardless of his injury or form.
-
Please god no. Torres II. I've always said that if we wanted Falcao he should've been bought when he left Porto. Now after a massive injury, questions over his age, severe drop in performance, ridiculous price and wages he should not even be considered. I can see a scenario where he comes, we sell Bamford - Falcao flops and Bamford bangs them in for fun. It would be typical.

Some sort of midfielder merry-go-round is bound to happen this summer and the first domino that will fall will be the sale of Pogba; to where is another question. Personally, I don't believe we'll get him. Hopefully Juve splurge their new found money on Oscar!

I said there was no point in comparing the two because my main point is that Liverpool and Chelsea are vastly different teams. You are essentially saying that he may become better with better players around him, which is not always the case e.g. Cuadrado. You say that he'll automatically get more time and space on the ball when paired with higher quality, I'm sorry, but that is nonsense. We all know that the vast majority of teams will park the bus against us, leaving a lot less "space and time to operate in" compared to Liverpool, so let's just get that straight. My point is, that if he fails to step up his game to meet Chelsea standards, what can he fall back on? His great work ethic? His professionalism? So far he is nothing but an overhyped one trick pony with poor finishing. The only exceptional talent he seems to have is a knack for not being out of the papers. He has shown me nothing that differentiates him from the likes of Adam Johnson, Scott Sinclair, Ashley Young or Gabriel Agbonlahor etc. Even think of the players José has already let go: Mata, KDB and Salah; is Sterling better than any of them? Not right now. Can he be? I don't really think so, certainly not Mata or KDB. I personally believe that, at the rate José is going with RWs, he would eat Sterling alive if he didn't hit the ground running. And just because something is for sale doesn't mean you should buy it (especially if it is vastly overpriced).

Pretty irrelevant comparing stas considering the vast difference in teams. Liverpool get a ton of chances to score because teams are more open against them (because teams actually think they can beat Liverpool); we don't get that many chances (that's why we bought Costa and are looking at Griezmann.)
-
No thank you. A bad egg overhyped by the English media. He can't hit the side of barn door at times, so I do not believe he is a Mourinho player - Mourinho wants ruthless finishers like Costa, hence our interest in Griezmann.
-
Cesc got my vote. You have to be some man to go to WBA and just show up for the banter! Haha, what a shot! Best red ever!

Oh for fuck sake, prepare for things to get a lot worse...here comes flopdrado.

The TC wannabe hipster/emo strikes again.

Causing drama/having an attitude is one thing. However, there are some players who cause drama/have a bit of an attitude but they're world class and you put up with it because of that exact reason. I severely doubt though that KDB had a major ego or attitude, just maybe questioned things a little. A lot here did the same, including myself, when Mata was dropped for Oscar. José is a manager who had Ibrahimovic for feck sake, the most egotistical player on the planet, and he has always said he would go out and kill for him if José asked; KDB was a bit difficult? I don't buy it now if I'm honest. Could he not motivate him? Did he bother? Did he not think he could be as good as this? That Oscar could be better? Whatever he thought, it is clear now that José was very wrong regarding KDB.
-
Perhaps it was just José being dogmatic again and deciding from the start that he just wasn't a 'Mourinho player', like he did with Mata. Can't believe we got rid of him in favour of Oscar, who repaid our faith directly afterwards by saving himself for the WC. Now, KDB is just on the brink of becoming world class if he continues this trajectory; I severely doubt Oscar ever will be up there. We've generally done good business in the past few windows, but there are some mares in there. Namely letting KDB go without a proper chance and buying Cuadrado for some stupid f**king reason. What an absolute waste.
-
Haha, not for Cuadrado! ...or should I say, CRUDrado... I'll get my coat.
-
Deciding to trade him in for the, so-called, 'upgrade' in Cuadrado will be one of the stupidest decisions ever.
-
Explains his new slicked-back hairstyle!
-
I'm hoping José's comments are a similar ploy for what he said of Luiz, Mata and Torres: big them up before and during the transfer window so clubs pay a bigger price (In Toress' case it was simply so we could be shot of him). I'm hoping he really is being replaced by Griezmann.
-
Seriously, who is in charge of the TalkChelsea facebook page? Some awful garbage transfer stories posted on it from garbage websites like 'Sports Lobster'. I mean, what the fuck is that?
-
Looking more likely that our interest is solid. Would love him here. Definitely an upgrade on Oscar/Cuadrado and may signal a more attacking intent from Jose for the coming season.
-
Haha, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't start now because of it! I doubt José is fond of players letting the opposition know of a potential weakness before kick-off...
-
Ignoring fee for a moment, I can see Cuadrado flopping harder than Torres. Based on what I've seen I seriously have 0 faith in him. There is no excuse for being that useless. Useless going forward - Bosingwa was better. Unbelievably useless tracking back - Mata was better.
