What @ILoveLamp said, I don't want another WC goalkeeper, simply a WC signing to solidify our position at the top. Signing Begovic, Falcao, Song are all well and good, but none of them change the dimensions of the squad - none bring us a level above. And we have seen with Mourinho that we can't 'workhorse' our way through the CL later stages. We need quality signings that consistently improve the squad to compete with the likes of Bayern, Barca and Real - no more of this 'play Azpi on the wing, defend, counter-attack and hope for the best' crap. I believe we have enough dead weight with the likes of Cuadrado and Mikel, but instead of replacing and improving we seem to just want to take on more dead weight with Falcao and Dembele-like signings. The direction of this transfer window appears to be bringing us backwards instead of forwards.
-
It will be an atrocious transfer window if Cech goes to Arsenal and we only sign mediocre crap like Falcao, Dembele etc. (Not to mention possibly losing the likes of Remy). We are the champions and we are losing 1 WC player - we need another WC signing to replace him in the squad. (Edit: no, I'm not saying sign another WC goalkeeper)
-
Hang on, I'll set up the gofundme/kickstarter page...
-
No shame in saying that I hope he gets injured between now and signing the dotted line. Anything to stop this atrocious deal from going forward.
-
His career was going nicely until he decided to jump aboard the money train to Russia. Was a big fan of his, but sadly, I believe he has wasted crucial development years in a piss-poor league and has plateaued as a result.
-
I expected nothing less. Point proven.
-
@didierforever, man, what age are you? I'm not joking here, because you often debate like a 12 year old. You bring up nonsensical statements and debate common sense - that is why I often do not respond to you. Like 'Remy is nowhere near Falcao'...Jesus, they had the exact same role last season and the difference was night and day, to even say what you said with a straight face is laughable considering the evidence.
-
Rafa time: Shit for an entire PL season - fact. Downhill after Monaco move - fact. Nosedive after his injury - fact. We are taking more of a gamble than usual - fact. These are the facts I refer to. The extremely optimistic people here don't like them or simply like to ignore them. Now watch people who are assuming he'll be 'El Tigre' next season like your post...
-
Did I say that exactly? Another person who does not want to face the facts. I'd rather not waste my time so.
-
Ever hear of the famous quote: "You're only as good as your last performance"? Because Falcao has had an absolute string of shit ones and you would sturggle to find a good one from an entire season in PL. Besides, he has dipped since the Monaco move 2 years ago and nosedived after his injury. So I'm not sure how you would put me in a box with the dreamers when my argument is based on the most recent facts. People think I'm being harsh but I'm simply stating the reality of the situation. If you don't like it or can't face it, tough.
-
Coming from a person who'd rather rely on a proven PL flop? I'm glad Kane wasn't a Chelsea youth player, he would've been pissed away a long time ago. Bamford has scored wherever he's gone. Do you want 3 world-class options for one position? That's what make me laugh. Complete baseless conjecture.
-
How some people can be so arrogantly confident in the abilities of a massive United flop is beyond me. Say what you want, but people like myself are arguing the simple facts of the situation: Remy = One of the best 2nd choice strikers in the league, if not the best. Bamford = Our best youth prospect. Falcao = Couldn't hit a barn door and threatens the future of both strikers. Your arguments are based on hope, sunshine and rainbows.
-
Don't worry guys, if we sell Bamford it should cover the cost of having Falcao for just the one year instead of having Bamford for possibly 10+ years. Loving the new Chelsea business acumen!
-
It's not what I want, those were José's words, not mine. If that is what he wants to do, why is he signing someone who has the potential to cause a lot of disruption? Why is he risking a severe loss in quality? Listen, I've made all my points and it is obvious to see the differences between Falcao and literally any other striker, I'm going no further in this pointless debate.
-
If he is coming back, I'm hoping he can push Cuadrado all the way....back to Italy.
-
Sorry if you don't like it, but my argument simply revolves around these facts: Remy - Was an excellent back-up. Bamford - Yet another excellent year and has the best chance out of the youth strikers, as highly rated as Solanke and Brown are, to actually break into the team. Falcao - An absolutely atrocious season and completely stole a living at £250k+ a week. So I can't wait to criticise is it? Are you saying I can't criticise because of those facts? Because if you are, I can tell you where to go... The Falcao signing now threatens their positions, no matter how you want to look at it. Logically, it makes next to no sense, but people are still being blinded by a big fucking name. And in case it wasn't clear, it is the person we are signing I do not agree with, I am not saying 'don't sign a striker'. If we wanted mediocrity we could've just signed someone like Lambert as 3rd choice instead (without the ridiculous wages). We could go for Austin as no. 2 and sell Remy. If we're in for Griezmann, he has the ability to be 3rd choice as well. Fuck it, we could put our faith in Bamford for a change. Absolutely anything else, just as long as it makes logical sense. Just as long as we're 100% sure we're not relying on shite when Costa isn't there - which, let's face it, will be quite a lot of the time. I don't want to go into the season with one arm tied behind our backs when Costa isn't there; if you can honestly look at Falcao from last season and feel confident, well, you're a very optimistic person to put it nicely.
-
'Omg', please note: And: Loic Remy will consider Chelsea exit if Chelsea sign Falcao Loic Remy wants to QUIT Chelsea with Man United flop Falcao closing in on move Palace keen on Remy Remy considering future in light of Falcao deal etc. It goes on. Also: Everton interested in Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford Don't forget Villa rumours as well. So yeah, cheers.
-
If we lose Remy, a proven back-up, and Bamford because we took a chance on the current sack of crap that is Falcao, Mourinho will have failed big time. I thought it was about 'keeping the current squad'?
-
I think he would be a great acquisition, but we could definitely kiss Bamford goodbye if we get him. I think Bamford should be given a chance instead, but that's just me. If Bamford doesn't make it I wouldn't be hopeful for any Chelsea youth in all honesty.
-
Honestly, for me it's disappointing being linked with the likes of Falcao and Douglas Costa while City are linked with De Bruyne and Pogba. If the disparity in transfer quality between us and them ends up being something along those lines I think we're really short-changing ourselves for the season ahead. Those types of signings for City can have the same impact Costa and Fabregas had for us. We also can't 'workhorse' our way through the CL later stages, we know how that has turned out the past two years under Mourinho. We need one big signing at least if we are to solidify our position at the top and push forward in the CL.
-
I hope he's instructing him to go to Juventus!
-
Juve eye transfer for Chelsea midfielder Oscar Here's hoping this is true. At least the Juve-Oscar links are building. As I said previously, Juve will have a lot of money to spend due to their progression in the CL - let's hope they're foolish enough to splash a lot on us.
-
Higuain is overrated anyway, especially considering his price.
-
It's one thing to be usually lazy, it's another to be lazy during a CL final. If he could show the drive he showed when it was 1-1, why not for the full 90mins? His motivation is questionable to say the least.
-
Pogba was average and lazy for the vast majority of tonight. Was at fault for the first goal for not tracking his man (a death sentence under Mourinho, forget about in a CL final) and only had his tail up when Juve were level. He needs the right manager and league to further his development, but it'll also come down to his level of motivation (which I don't think is pretty high right now).
