I don't think Chelsea really started taking the youth academy seriously until 2005 so it was going to be a while anyways to see the fruits of their labour. And judging by the insane amount of loanees out there, they looked ahead to where they will have replacements for outgoing players over the next several years, especially this summer. I think Pep going to Bayern was a wake up call to Roman and in a good way in the long term once Rafa is excused.

Daily Mail actually had a good article asking if the squad has no depth, then why loan out 22 players? 12 more than Arsenal. Namely players like Essien, De Bruyne, Lukaku and McEachran. While the writer recognized many of the loanees are too young, Chelsea could really use the contributions of at least Essien and Lukaku these days.

Hiring Mourinho is a negative if you want to see the progression of academy youth or loanees return to make an impact. He doesn't have the patience to create like Jurgen Klopp does. He wants to buy buy buy and win straight away and he's a sure bet to leave after three years (which is an eternity here). So there's the fan base who want to buy other clubs' finished products and those who want to develop from within. (a debate to go on and on) )A lot of bringing back Mou has to do with the current coach and the results this season. But for me this club and the structure they have needs a long term coach with a philosophy that coincides with these technical skilled types like a Frank De Boer. Problem is the owner has an itchy trigger finger which makes sense for a Mourinho but he will have a meltdown with a young roster. This club is basically turning into Arsenal only with a slightly higher wage structure but until this club gets a bigger stadium to supply bigger revenue you will continue to see transfer windows like the current one, one maybe two brought in at bargain prices and therefore they need a Klopp type who can work within a structure and build on youth who now have developed into players every other club wants to rip out for their own good. The Mourinho era was fun back then but times are changing and this club needs to get a coach who can make good on style and youth. A lot demanded right there and Jose to me isn't cut out for that shit.

Josh has incredible stats (sorry there I go again with stats) with not only completion percentage but to the final third as well over his career. KDB is a talent, I just like Josh's potential better.

Mourinho's return would be Roman's attempt of soothing over the Benitez hiring with the fans and the loss of Lampard if anything. Roman might as well since managers don't trust the guy with being able to last more than six months. Of course the last time a manager talked about how great the EPL is he went to Germany the next day.

Marko has a way better skill set than Moses and it's baffling why if fit he isn't starting more in Moses' absence. Oscar is wasted on the right as is Mata. But then again I am clueless for protesting Torres getting another start according to Rafa.
