These are the top four finishers in 2012, messi has 91 goals in 69 games, ronaldo has 63 goals in 71 games, neymar has 54 goals in 65 games and falcao has 49 goals in 54 games People comparing lewandoski's finishing to falcao is naive thinking. Falcao rates almost a goal per game.

He developed his finishing this season, I think 10 goals this season. At least he would be an extra player in the team that can put the ball at the back of the net. Oscar, hazard and moses all lack this or are not frequent enough. Ooops I forgot. But we need a new home grown player to replace sturridge.

When I mean through balls, I'm just talking about applying pressure on weaker teams to sit back and defend. Luiz is better than mikel in pressurizing opponents. We need to act like the bigger team and pressure teams into submision. Passing the ball to the side all the time allows weak teams to get back their defensive shape and become more difficult to break down. Those through and long balls are quick ways to dissect opponent defence, luiz found hazard twice recently in one on one positions. As I said before, luiz losing the ball 2 more times than mikel in a match makes little difference against smaller teams (not the man uniteds) becos they defend in large numbers so the danger on the counter is minimal. Mikel is needed against bigger teams who attack in larger numbers in the counter but is not necessary against bottom teams. This is not true. Westbrom, everton, manutd, arsenal, mancity and tottenham are FAR MORE DANGEROUS on the counter than qpr, reading and villa. Mikel is not needed against teams who defend but he is needed against physical or attack minded teams...

Nice stats you got there. But you forgot about other aspects of a game, like the pressure on opponents forcing mistakes, and not just statistics. David luiz presence, constant foward passes, aggressive approach, pushes the team foward. And the opposition have to watch their backs to defend us which leaves the opponents deep in defending thinking of how to defend luiz next through ball or shot, instead of being confortable defending. Since smaller teams don't attack much, luiz giving the ball away a little more won't have much effect. Mikel is ultra-defensive and not needed against bottom teams in my opinion. I'll rather smash the smaller teams 8-0 every day than scrape 2-0 in my opinion

Very true, mikel is the best dm. But we don't need a dm against small teams so that we can score more. Against the manutd's and physical westhams then mikel is vital.

Just as I said, against smaller teams, mikel is not needed for protection. So that we can blow them away. But against top/physical sides, mikel would be needed for cover.

The real question is are we willing to buy an average striker(demba ba, papis cisse) and a central midfielder only to find out that the striker can't finish the chances?? Are we underatting how important someone with good finishing brings to the team?? The CWC spoiled chances anyone?? Some statements 1. "Falcao only thrives on opportunities created for him." The fact is every striker needs the chances to be created for him, the difference is falcao is the best finisher. 2. "He doesn't do anything outside the box" please falcao is not messi, no player dribbles 5 pple to score but messi. Not cavani, not lewandoski. Falcao just does the basic things, "receive pass, pass the ball to the AM, make a run, receive the return pass and score". Perfect example is the goal against barcelona. 3. Falcao is scoring 40 goals with average midfielders and some people here are underating that feat?? Mata and hazard are 10times more intelligent than athletico and porto playmakers and yet falcao scores 40goals in 45games. When sturridge made runs, mata found him easily but he missed. Falcao is the master of making runs, and he will score the chances. Infact from most of the posts I'm seeing people are even underatting the runs falcao makes, its funny how people were saying torres doesn't make runs sometime ago. 4. Manure have been shit defensively but are still winning games, are looking better than mancity JUST BECAUSE THEY GOT A GOALSCORER (VANPERSIE) this season. Who has scored against chelsea, arsenal and mancity (BIG GAMES).
