The problem with playing a 4-3-3 is that mata doesn't fit anywhere there. Oscar is a player that thrives when the team is centered around him. When all the passes go through him, he is at his best. He reminds me of fabregas, when in arsenal he was the main creator and he peformed well. But in barcelona, xavi and iniesta are first before him so he is not the same level as in arsenal. Oscar in brazil is the mata of brazil. They pass to him and make a run expecting a brilliant return pass. Hazard did well to play that way with oscar when he came on which led to 2 clean chances and a goal. Dimatteo managed to rotate him and mata centrally, and he played well But now, mata is the main man in chelsea so, he will not have everything centered around him unfortunately.

Around 09-10 we used 4-3-3 more and for nigeria they play with 4-3-3 too. He is suited to this i feel, but now he is in a 2 man pivot so he should attempt more long balls so that our players start making movements when he is with the ball expecting passes from deep. i didnt really take note of the long passes he gave in the sparta game but maybe that could be why we created so many chances for ladyboy in that match. I know mikel has long range passing in his locker, but his reluctance to use it baffles me sometimes. I feel he is too scared to lose the ball but if our players realise he gives long pases every time, they will definately make run behind the defence(which have been lacking in our side) expecting his pass. Then the opposition defence have something extra to do, and not just marking out juan mata.

There are 3 types of DM, deeplying playmaker, box to box and sitting DM. Deep lying playmakers are xavi, pirlo, benat, modric,- they are allowed mobility and control the tempo of the whole team Box to box are vidal khedira, ramires, sandro, essien. - They enter challenges frequently and their energy help the rest of the team in defensive situations. sitting DM are xabi alonso, schweinstiger, javi martinez, busquets, carrick, mikel - They are good on the ball, threat from outside the 18box with shots, spray long balls to the attacking wings and can tackle Mikel is in the sitting DM position but lacks shooting and long range passing to spread the play. I think thats the main problem

I cant really blame mata. Everyone except Benitez can see that mata has a low stamina, but he plays him in every game. Mata has his own weaknesses which is loosing the ball when charged down or pressured by opposition. If he can develop his physique to silva's level then you will see just how good he is, bcos he can then hold the ball under pressure instead of just forcing a pass because he is scared to break his leg lol.

Look at tottenham today, when they were loosing, there was a lot of movement all over the pitch especially runs made off the ball (not just standing like trees like our players) and desire from the players to score. We had it earlier this season under RDM, when mazacar were vulnerable but we created chances at will. But we've become so stiff under benitez its sickening. Even westham have more movement than us when attacking. :banghead:

I thought he was bad but not this bad. Most of the problems is down to him, he has no motivational skills at all

If benitez doesn't rest mata for this, then he should be sacked on the spot, that is all.

This guy has ruined us. Under RDM we had fluid movement from mazacar and we created chances at will because the movement confused defenses. Now, we look like static trees passing to each other fuck u rafa!

Our pivot of mikel, lamps is always horrible. They are both slow, one should play with luiz or ramirez. Chelsea is the only top team in world football that look like statues when attacking. We have basically no movement from any player off the ball. How do these cunts think they can create a chance?? I've seen teams in the AFCON with far better team movement than chelsea. Disgraceful

Happy birthday lad, have a great time ausie.

How did this happen
-
Torres misses 5 clear chances, mata misses one ramires misses 3 chances, keeper saves jt, hazard and moses shots?? What's up with us and missing chances ffs.
-
Mata plays 90mins. Gonna burn out in the city game this weekend
-
Another example of pointless possesion from arsenal. Bayern just played like juve did to celtic. Arsenal held the ball but I can only remember one clear chance dat neuer saved while bayern created many clear chances.
-
No he actually played a lot of accurate through balls to the attackers in this tournament. He thrives in a 4-3-3 system for sure.
-
I wanted him before but now he is 35mil, NO!!
-
He's still class. but i wish he could move to his true position which is CM/AM bcos he still plays that way.

Oscar = boss in europe Should rest mata in this game, he has to get a rest sooner or later, surely before the mancity game would be good.
-
Mata has taken the responsibility of the strikers in our team, every one passes to him to finish off chances now. Last season, he gave a lot of through balls compared to this season. Anyways good for him, would love him to cement his place in the spain side.
-
Lovely lineup, against even smaller teams oscar could play instead of ramires. Possesion would be 90% - 10% Cech Azpi - Luiz - Terry - Cole Mikel oscar - KDB Mata - Ba - Hazard

Mata is chelsea's best player this season no doubt. Mata on form is class and would fit almost any team. He has weaknesses like any other player could have, which is holding unto the ball under pressure. If he was as strong as even silva, he would be a far better player than he already is. He also gets tired easily, if he gets a one week rest, he will produce the form he produced earlier this season. RDM usually rested mata from time to time.
