Khedira is far more intelligent but slower. I'm a khedira admirer and think he is one of the most underrated footballers out there. The reason why Germans started playing well wasn't just because of lahm moving to right back, it was also mainly because khedira came into the midfield and provided a willing runner from the center for kroos and schweinstieger to pass to. Just like how arsenal became shit when ramsey got injured, germany have this same effect with khedira

You miss my point totally. If hazard plays AM, he'll have more of the ball and not disappear again. Hazard doesn't have the mentality of most attacking wingers. He just doesn't. Mourinho did a good job motivating him as the best motivator in football, but hazard is not someone who runs at the defence at pace, puts in a cross/shoots at every opportunity. Look at mertens on the right for Belgium in this WC then compare with hazard on the left. Mertens is not world class, he just asked for the ball, tried to dribble his leftback and put in a cross/shoot. Hazard takes the ball, instead of charging at the 1 marker, he turns round, by this time more markers come to assist then he has to pass back to the left-back. Mertens is direct, hazard is not. Mertens/schurle =winger Hazard = different Its not as if hazard can't do that, its just that he prefers a quick one-two and rather lays the pass for another to score. That's why it seems he goes missing for long periods, then just decides to finally try and make things happen its just unnatural to him IMO. But let's agree to disagree

To me, hazard is misused. What we are seeing is an AM, forced to play on the wings because he has speed. The mentality of a winger (mertens, schurrle, robben, griezman) and the mentality of AM's (hazard, ozil, gotze) are 2 different things. Hazard and ozil have had similar dull tournaments because they are all playing in the wings most of the time. They need runners around them and they need to be in the centre of action touching the ball most of the time. I just feel because he has speed, we assumed his speed is best utilized in the wings where he has space. But I tell you the mentality to want to run at the fullback with the ball and make runs off the ball expecting a pass into space is the most important thing for a winger. Hazard doesn't have this mentality, he has a linkup, one-two, creative mentality and I think he should be played in the centre. In fact, the stats that showed he created over 80 chances last season should make this more obvious. Mourinho did a good job of motivating him last season, but even last season, games like against fulham summed him up. First half he is secluded in the wings away from action, then second half he starts taking a free role moving more to the centre and ends up creating 2 goals. He should move to the centre IMO, he'll be in a more natural position for him.

Imagine if he missed as much chances as Vanpersie or got caught offside 6 times like vanpersie. It would be raining fire on this thread.

Incredible stats if true. No wonder I used to see him as the best ever EPL passer when he was at arsenal. His through ball rate is crazy, costa won't miss koke's supply at all.

I think he's misunderstanding what u said. We all love hazard, but we are allowed to express our opinions on his positives and weaknesses. Like mourinho said, the people with more talent to reach higher levels will get more criticism because we know they can do more than other players. If we criticize him it doesn't mean we hate him, it means we care for his development and hopes he reaches higher heights as fast as possible. Hazard isn't lazy, he is just different from our typical wingers. He isn't direct like schurrle, u'll never see hazard make runs in goal scoring positions like schurrle did for Germany yesterday. One of the most important attributes of a winger is the ability to run into space, and this is not a strong point for hazard. He is a creator more than the scorer, he'll rather come to collect the ball instead of run. He should be having the most touches of the ball in the team with that attribute of his. That's what will suit him IMO, its bad for a player with his extraordinary talent to have 10-15mins spells without touching the ball because of being triple marked and secluded away from teammate's support in the wings(this won't happen in the centre). He is one of the best in the world at keeping the ball in tight spaces, and making turns, very similar to iniesta in play style in terms of strengths and weaknesses baring speed. All these attributes point to a fantastic AM to me. But that's just my opinion.
