This is a rebellious thread in my mind and only came about when mourinho said oscar is his preferred no. 10 I've made my points as to why I think mourinho prefers oscar to juan not trying to discredit juan intentionally but in a debate there will always be pros and cons, and based on the view from the choice of the coach this thread rather seems like Juan mata no.10 vs Mourinho, but I could also make points why benitez chose juan over oscar as no. 10 while also seemingly showing unavoidable discredit to oscar but mourinho is coach now and not benitez there doesn't seem to be much point to it anymore ill just watch and see what happens and hope that whatever happens makes chelsea a better team but whatever posts i disagree or agree with and i feel i have valid points to contribute i will and this is one as it goes contrary to the coaches decision as to where mata and oscar should both play when in the team. However i think this might definitely turn out to be a long debate and answers shall come over the course of the season.

Well i wasn't trying to convince you anyway because i am not mourinho but i just discussed facts as to why mourinho might have preferred oscar based on his own actions and statements towards oscar and mata. But you sounded very unconvincing yourself if you were attempting to be otherwise because aside from telling me or making it look like since a few pages back the gap in creativity between mata and oscar is like that between arbeloa and Cr7 and sounding like the most creativity to come from chelsea squad should be No. 10 not minding the lack of it from the 3 more advanced attacking positions in front of the no. 10 yeah let's leave it at that but then you are anti-mourinho aren't you so whatever decisions he makes is debatable by you not excluding oscar as his preferred no.10 and please remain a gentleman as always if you care to reply.

Ferguson scolded press men all the time mou is human too, the media seek to destroy and mou did the right thing the other option would have been to ignore poisonous questions. He is protecting his players especially young ones like kdb who may mis-interprete what he says to the press when the media twists things up as usual as with mata and luiz.

I will surely see, but he isn't quite as effective offensively in champions league i am afraid compared to oscar but people don't see that. To stand a chance in europe without drogba we need a well built team and mata isn't among top 20 players in europe so we will fail massively if we build around him like we do in EPL and i bet willian will be more important for us than mata in europe. Oscar on the other hand is a team player and brings much to the table in europe. If he can translate his form in europe to EPl we won't have this discussion of no. 10 anymore and he is definitely showing signs of that so far.

I can also say removing ramires from the wing was a positive tactic from mou that changed the entire approach of the team and as lampard said all the other players stepped up also so it wasn't really down to mata as people fantasize even schurrle made the team better as he replaced hazard (up until the red card) but that goes unnoticed. But then in chelsea every good play is mata and the bad ones luiz and/or mikel.

Well then if true i hope he drops oscar so we will see how good mata is without players who work so hard defensively for him to shine but then again i don't believe oscar will be dropped because oscar has been our best player in champions league and has earned a starting spot too. Mata for me has looked almost average in champions league football since last season.

Why debate when mourinho has chosen oscar as his preferred no. 10. If mourinho had chosen mata i know i wouldn't debate just like benitez chose mata as no. 10 and there was no debate. Similarly RDM chose oscar as his no. 10 and back then we played our best football there was also no debate and mata was still the most important player. I think the debate rather arises from the point of view that mourinho trusts oscar as one of his favourite players and this brings insecurity to mata who has been the favourite and most important for two seasons now. But change is only constant isn't it before juan mata there was once florent malouda...lol...but we actually won the league with malouda as our best player.

Insecure... He isn't my girlfriend you know. If my points are valid it is only because they are true. My eye is even more open now to what mourinho has seen and it seems quite laughable really. For example if mata plays no. 10 in midfield and oscar seats on the bench then who will win balls if runners and ball winners like oscar don't play. That will leave ramires as the only ball winner from midfield to attack. Mata is slight, Mikel is slow and has to remain deep to be effective, lampard is old, same with essien, willian is not yet up to speed, schurrle is mostly only aggressive and that's it we cannot win a league that way our defense will be battered by the smallest of teams except we play with a low block constantly like benitez did.

Exactly, mata is our most creative player but that doesn't mean he should play No.10 because, No. 10 is a creative role but also a midfield role but as a forward on the wing mata has no midfield duty which is where he should play for his qualities and where mou wants him to play.

Ahhhh all these excuses, he just needs to play more intelligently instead of dribbling in our half or at the half way line he should dribble in the 18yard box or around it. Well i think he should be sold if he doesn't want to stay and learn and win important trophies. No player is bigger than a club we must learn from sir alex. In manu kagawa,anderson, chicharito, in mancity milner,lescot,rodgwell all experienced professionals get less playing time but they don't go to the media they improve to compete. The media know with mou, chelsea will be formidable so as usual they try to destroy success. Kdb is no mata yet(at least not to chelsea), he should keep his head really low and work really hard this is the same thing moses faced last season but still gave us an inspired run in the europa league without complain when he got his chance, kdb should do the same he's got talent he just has to believe.

Yeah, oscar our best player in champions league since last season "dances only samba". Ridiculous. The way some people see mata as a no. 10 i still don't understand because i see him as a forward who scores and assists. Mata is no midfielder he is just a forward/winger like willian, piazon, messi, ronaldo. The most creative player in a team is not always the no. 10 especially if other tactical duties are required of the no. 10. Ribery, messi, ronaldo the best and most creative players in their teams are not no. 10. Why do this new generation fans think a no. 10 should be a striker by such standards schole, zidane, ballack, deco where not good no. 10's because they do not score or assist as much as ozil/Mata which is a BIG lie. A no. 10 is a midfield role for players like oscar who is a pure midfielder which mourinho knows and not for forward/wingers like mata who should be playing much upfront as a forward/winger where he belongs. Even del bosque the spain NT coach knows and plays mata as a forward/winger for spain and never as no. 10 over xavi a midfielder with less goals and assists than mata. Like it or not oscar is jose's no. 10. Mata and hazard to interchange positions when the three are playing just like under RDM where we played our best football.
