After watching the game the other day, I dont think its a case of replacing Maka. More of a case of changing the way we play. PS seemed to play with 2 midfielders in front of the back 4. A tactic seen alot of in the Euros. If we play Mikel and Essien there then I'll be fine with that. but it does have its negative points. I've a feeling he'll obviously be playing Deco for the majority of the games so that only leaves 1 midfield position open if he's going to play 2 up front. It would be hard to pick between Lampard, Ballack and Joe Cole as to who would start. If he picks a different formation on Saturday then at least we'll know that there is going to be something other than plan "A" once the season starts.

With him scoring on his first team debut it'll give him a major confidence boost. He certainly has the makings over a very good striker. When he came on he was quite quiet, then BANG...hit the post, minutes later...BANG back of the net. I'd like to see him get a run in the first team this year instead of getting farmed out to some foreign team to get more experience. We've seen Sahar come into the team and fade, but this kid has something special about him. I can feel it.

Decent performance against a side we expected to beat. All the new boys, Ivanovic included seemed to fit in well into the team. I was impressed with Bosingwa, Deco looked very comfortable, Di Santo took his goal well and looked sharp and Ivanovic looked as if he's known the players for ages

I think the formation is more of a 4-3-1-2 with Lampard playing behind the strikers, Deco looks to have a free role. Looking good so far, Bosingwa looks like a good purchase. Have to laugh at the crouwd though, everytime this team gets forward you'd think they were gonna explode

Could it be possible the club may be looking for him to sign his contract then get rid of him next season? That way the club would get a decent transfer amount for him, Jose has stated many times Lampard will be at Inter next season. RA could be setting him up. Dont forget, he gave Grunt a 4 year deal in January or something before getting shafted of him, and he was supposed to be one of Romans closest friends. Just a wacky thought

Its good that were seeing players who've been a major part of the last few years signing long term deals to stay on at the club without the dramatics. Riccy, Bridge, Cech and now Essien, all players you'd find hard to replace.

I'd add SWP to that list.
